November 1 - targets for 2021 and beyond

Not sure I can agree on that. Centre is the hardest position to defend in my opinion. A quality centre that can defend can lock down that side of the field. Joey Manu is one of those guys.

Locking down a side in defence has a lot to do with being consistent so the players around you know what you are going to do in any situation.
Confidence and consistency around our Centres have cost us heaps in the past seasons.
 
Oates is re-signing with the Broncos for at least the 2020 season, and has options for a further two years after that but I still don't feel like he would be a target even with the funds we may have available by then.
 
Tyson Frizzell is off contract and can be approached after Nov 1.
I really like him as a player and if everyone is in bidding wars for Fifita and Jai Arrow we could go after Frizzel.
 
Shaun Lane would be a good buy , he has been playing good footy the last 2 years and wouldn't be too expensive and at 6"6 and 110kg would add size to the back row . He runs the ball well has some skills and hits hard in D just ask Klem . Lane smashed him a few times in our last game against the Eels .

Imo we should re-sign Jacob before he has a great season and his price go's up.

I don't see Watson getting the same price tag for 2021 unless he has a big season and holds the one possition.

Love people bagging Watson, our best player on the field when fit for most of the year and definately tried the hardest, certainly offered more than Ponga in the back half of the year.
 
Also re Jacob if anyone wants him they can take him, seems to be more effort than his worth. $150k per year contract only for 2 years for mine.

I didn't bag him. I just don't think a utility is worth $500k.
Like I said if he has a good year and finds a regular starting spot in the one possition he could be worth it.
 
I’d be 100% keeping Watson. He’s one of our best week to week, just need to not be thrown around into a million different positions. And with Jacob, if he can stay injury free and play consistent first grade and good minutes I honestly think he could become better than Dan. Dan’s too inconsistent especially after the origin period this year.
 
I hope that O'Brien has in mind where each player is best suited to play (barring injury cover). It was frustrating to no end when Brown would move spine players around constantly. Hoping that Obi will work with the players to stick in a position and master it, rather than be a good-but-not-great player in more than one position (e.g. Mann/Buhrer).
 
GI, Burgess, Gillet, Matulini all medically retired without a whimper from the NRL and all coming off clubs caps.

Can we medically retire our crap that's surplus to requirements in Guerra and Sione to get a million under our cap?

Watson is easily worth that if not $600-$700k on the open market and I guarantee he'd be snapped up like that if he went on the open market.

Out of curiousity do you disagree aside from maybe Klemmer that he was our best in the back half of the year and well and truly out shone Ponga and if so is Ponga worth under $500k?

Watson is on the open market now.
I agree Watson was one of our best this year as a hooker (which we have Brailey to play in 2020). For Watson to be on that sort of money he needs to play in the one position and make it his own.
Re Ponga he is worth it in publicity alone and he is our fullback. And the QLD fullback.

If this coach is as good as people think then all fit and raring to go , that's a top 8 side at the very least .
Imagine what Bellache could do with it .

Ponga... We all know this kid could be anything .
Lee... Played good footy from the second he got here .
Hunt...Has been a great buy and I don't think anyone will take his centre spot unless a winger goes down .
Moga... I still think if fit he can be a beast I remember when he was unstoppable and can be again .
Bes...t This kid didn't look out of place in 1st grade .
Watson... Give him the 5/8 spot for the year and I think he will shine there .
Pearce... If his head is in the right place we will win more than we lose , at his best he is as good as anyone playing .
Ese,ese... I hope he stays and I like him at lock the most .
Fitzy... Went off the boil a bit but that happens he will bounce back.
Barnett... He's playing good footy but if we bought a Fifita or the like id keep Fitzy and Barnett to the bench.
Daniel... A good head space and injury free this coach may get him at his best consistently then look out .
Brailey ... I haven't seen much of him so I hope he is as good as people say .
Klemmer … Thank god we got him .

Sione … He would be my utility and although there are better players out there the kid is all heart .
Jacob … Injury free with a full preseason and a new coach imo this will be his year. Watch this space ..
Glasby ...One of the old heads we need and he works hard in attack and defence .
????? ...Who will get this spot .

Your understating the value of a good utility plenty of players make a good career out of it and am happy to pay Watson good coin to continue here.
