How many times did this happen in the older days when concussion protocols didn’t exist?

Personally never seen it before so back when the game was tougher and much more physical with linebackers deliberately trying to take out quarterbacks legally/illegally.

Quarterbacks had a bounty on their head and we’re coming back the next week after being concussed on a much more regular basis then they are today yet never seen what Tua went through before until now.

The Sunday Thursday turn around has only been around since 2006 and even so all concussions were swept under the rug, I don’t trust Brett farve as far as I could throw him but he recently said he actually believes he received “thousands” of concussions which is an obvious hyperbole.
But there is a large number of deaths linked to cte (junior saus being one of the most polarising), a lot of careers ended from concussions suffered to close together and I believe the threat of second impact syndrome was completely ignored in this instance.

Yes there’s plenty of concussions over the years with guys backing up the following week but how many of them had a guy on the field with his hands seizing up?

Same as a king hit, one unlucky blow can kill you and many many others don’t. All the luck of the draw.

If they’d suffered serious brain trauma after suffering a concussion 4 days earlier you may have seen that same response from the body as you can see here it is a natural response to sudden brain trauma.

How do you know there hasn’t been that instance before concussion was under the microscope. I’m willing to bet there has been over the many years the sport has been played especially when players were getting bonuses for taking out the quarterback.

I didn’t say that it hasn’t happened before, there have been multiple instances even in recent times of players that suffered head knocks exhibiting the fencing responses, we are of differing opinions and that’s alright I just hope the protocols are looked at and that Tua isn’t out for an extended period of time.

Good matchups to kick off the season.

Dallas is always a different and far better team when Dak is healthy. Eagles will have some tough roster decisions to make but do themselves plenty of favours by extending guys early and getting rid of or trading the right guys when they want a contract. Both teams draft pretty well and rarely completely miss when it comes to important picks.

In regards to the Chiefs it felt nearly every week they were doing enough and getting by lucky to win games but that really caught up to them in the Superbowl when Mahomes was just given no time to make throws even when he was seeing open guys. Took them too long to adjust in the end.

I guess that's the most interesting thing to see how a Parsons-less teams goes because teams always had to keep en eye on #11. Green Bay fans will see how often he copped no calls for holds going forward now as well lol.

Random rule change idea but I wonder what would happen to the game if a rule was introduced similar to the “safety” rule in the NFL?

Would need to be worked through properly and perhaps only be worth 1 point and potentially getting the ball back on the 20m line to restart the attack but it would bring an element of upside back into the short kicking game that the 7 tackle rule / new restart rule have taken away.

Thoughts?

Dolphins, Titans, Saints and Bears all heading for long grim seasons.

Both McDaniel and Callahan will be the first coaches to be sacked.

Crazy to have three blocked field goals in the morning slate of games and two of them that end up effecting th e final score

Bears looking a bit better but not sold on them, the rest, yep…how long are the Saints giving it till they start Shough.

We’ve seen it be very beneficial to sit a guy for a few games as Dart has flourished but hopefully they start selling guys like Kamara (Olave maybe) before their value continues to fizzle.

And of course it’s good to see Christian McAffrey back to his old self mostly (of course the year after I draft him in fantasy football!)
