Says we have the stadium and the centre of excellence to offer.

In the article it mentions we hosted an England v NZ match in the 2008 WC.
I remember a lot of England fans stayed in the first new hotel built in the west end after the Earthquake and the rest of the west end was boarded up and covered in grafitti. They described Newcastle as like Lebanon after the bombing.
They'd probably still have to stay in the west end, but at least the new courthouse, city campus of the Uni and all the new hotels make it half presentable now - not to mention the world's largest KFC.

It was a great game between the Kiwis and England in 2008, England lead 24-8 in the first half, but Vatuvei scored four tries and NZ took it out 36-24. I went from absolutely fuming to thinking we had a chance of taking it out.
