For the first time in 19 years the Newcastle Knights finally have a complete training and recovery venue to call their own.
As part of the Knights/Wests Hospitality Group partnership, Balance Health Club has been tailored to suit the needs of Newcastle’s premier sporting team.
With two heated pools, state of the art fitness equipment and nearby ovals, the Knights can now train, condition and recover at the one facility.
Speaking today, Philip Gardner CEO of Wests Hospitality Group says through this partnership with the Knights Football Club, Balance will become the home of the Knights’ elite squad.
“Today’s opening of the elite training area at Balance Health Club is the second stage in the evolution of Balance into a ‘world’s best practice’ health and fitness facility,†said Mr Gardner.
“Stage three of this development, being the spa/rehab centre and ground redevelopment, will be completed this season, creating a fitting home for the region’s leading sporting team.â€
Meanwhile, David Seage will replace Milton Thaiday at fullback when the Knights take on the Broncos this Sunday at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
Thaiday suffered ankle ligament damage against the Rabbitohs at Telstra Stadium and is expected to spend at least six weeks in recovery.
“Milton’s loss is an obvious disappointment. Losing any form player is tough but David is a proven First Grader and will slot straight in to the side. It’s a great opportunity for him,†said Knights Coach, Michael Hagan.
Hagan named his 17 man squad at Balance Health Club today, announcing an otherwise unchanged line up.
Internationals Andrew Johns, Danny Buderus and Steve Simpson will all back up after Friday night’s ANZAC Test to complement a full strength Newcastle side.
The Broncos traditionally attract a large crowd to EnergyAustralia Stadium and ticket sales are already healthy, especially in corporate areas. Spectators are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets to avoid disappointment.
