Right. Nice one. That would’ve been interesting. Reckon he would’ve had a better chance for success in Townsville. Top 8 again in 2023 maybe. Whereas I can’t see Warriors getting in for a long long time.

Yeah, it was a bit odd. He kind of insinuated that the Warriors job was not really on his radar, and that he was thinking about (and had been shortlisted for) the Cowboys gig, and then he and the Warriors boss spoke over the phone and by the end of the afternoon the deal (with the Warriors) was done.

Couple of good pickups for next year for Warriors already (Kane Evans, Euan Aitken). They’ve got RTS and a monster backline. Plenty for Warriors to be excited about.

Yeah I hope they have a great year, I love watching the Warriors play that unpredictable footy. I don’t think Brown could have done much more, he did a tremendous job and his time was up, things just didn’t quite kick on with the wins, but full credit to having him moved on. He’s built a very solid foundation and our culture is definitely heading in the right direction.

Was the right time for him to go, clearly couldn't take us to the next level but forever grateful for all he did to turn around the club. Sucks that we have those wooden spoons on our permanent record but if it ends in a premiership it will be worth it.

Gus Gould was on a panel show talking about his role at the Warriors, and he basically said his input would be to model the Warriors juniors system on Penrith juniors system. Penrith had massive numbers with their juniors, but it was all hit and miss before Gus recruited Garth Brennan from the Knights, and Brennan weeded out the kids who didn't have the commitment to go all the way.
The Warriors have a massive talent pool, but they need to work out who is serious and who is not when they are 16 years old, and only put the time and effort into the serious ones.

That isn’t good pick ups. No doubt overpayed to get them there. Wasting cap money on bang average recruits.
Its a good starting point. We picked up Heighington, Lillyman etc who all filled a role, and then upgraded with better recruits and developed juniors. Warriors will do the same.

Lillyman was a recent SOO rep. Shame his body broke down when he got to the Knights.
Those 2 struggle to make FG let alone be near SOO level. Warriors are better off giving juniors a chance to prove themselves instead of wasting 2 spots for them.
Not sure who you’re trying to convince. They’ll implement the same strategy that is coming to fruition for us now. In a couple of years, their juniors will be more developed and ready to step in.

It's the same thing we went through, buy steady moneyball type players & slowly build the roster up year by year. Considering how the Warriors have been for years, they could use some steady Australian development system type players to surround all the young prospects & show them the way. Their current senior players are part of a losing culture so all the young guys become a part of that too, just like it was here.

Signing players that struggle to be regular starters at current club is ok IF they are better than what they have and if improvement in squad means others are then interested. It’s seems to Browns policy along with butter chicken, in a few years it may pay off.
One of the best recruitment policies is to look for guys who are of first grade standard but are stuck behind guys who aren't going anywhere in their spot. Have a look at half backs at Penrith or fullbacks at the Roosters and give them an opportunity. The right guy not playing first grade at their club could flourish given an opportunity at yours, and generally, they will be pretty cheap.

Grant a great example of this at the Tigers. And that 6 who played for the Panthers while Clearey was out. Is it Martin?? Connor Watson for us. Anyway, absolutely agree and think there’s always a good opportunity for players and clubs like the Warriors in their current predicament.
