Nathan Brown discussion

It's not his job for the fans to get it, it's his job to win games. We won last night by a a boot leather thickness. I wonder what the commentary would have been had we lost?

You can't name a winger on the bench and leave them there for 70 minutes. Thats bonkers.

Likewise, you can't name a forward on the bench and give them 12 minutes at the death. Bonkers.

Our biggest issue is we lose every game in the forwards, we lost the forward battle again last night. Yet here he is taking two spots and taking them nearly completely out of the game. Most teams will struggle big time with two less interchange players in a game.

If Ross was there in case Meaney had a shocker then Ross could have been named at Centre, with Denniss out, and if Meaney had a shocker move Ross to FB, meaney to bench and shuffle buhrer to centre. Absolutely no point putting Ross on the bench to just sit there.

I think it would’ve made sense to perhaps offer up a reason for a shock inclusion on the bench. Irrespective of whose job it is, it would make sense to do that. They have Q&A for circa 10 minutes; just explain it. But as we all agree, it was a dumb bench. I’d rather a big man with little experience or skills other than hold ball and run hard! I’m not a Brown out man (yet), but am starting to wonder. I hope for Brown and us all that we can do better next year. I don’t think scraping into the 8 will be good enough but cannot see anything other than that with the forwards we have.

Who knows with Brown. Depends if he is one of Browns boys.

I'm not a Brown out man either, in fact I like what he has done with the club, along with Mooney.

But the cracks are appearing.

If we make the 8 next year it will be a pass for sure.

4 years to scrape into the 8 is a poor result imo.

Who knows though, we might win it all next year as unlikely as it sounds
If a few dominos fall into place and we can jag a top front rower and another class middle forward for 2019 we’ve got a more than capable squad. I think our backline with Ramien and Lee added is fine. We have quality 1,6,7,9 and I’m happy with with our backrow. We desperately need front rowers and probably a backup half and we’re set.

If Pearce doesn’t get hurt this year we’re in or just outside the 8 right now. A few signings and abit of luck with injury (first time for everything) and we’re capable of being a top side.

But you don't know what he was asked to do with the team listening to Gardner coaching first grade is a small part of it. I would imagine WESTS would have a different measure than first grade results, in the real NRL they never measure success based on first grade premierships but on how they went in the Mal Woolford Trophy. So going on improvements over past 4 years such as having rebuilt our recruitment and retention systems, talent identification, junior and coaching systems which has seen good results in juniors last two seasons, he has put together a good team which means we have quality people in important back stage positions such as Moons and Ayoub suggesting that the centre of excellence will have a good foundation which is where WESTS invested their money, Also there has been considerably less off field incidents and rumours over past 4 years and increased presence of players in community programs. This makes it easier for the front office to do their job and get things going well.

Bennett said it would take 5 years to make this team competitive and that was coming from the best rugby league coach ever ...

The other thing is Brown is looking long term and has brought in a lot of really good young players who will make 1st grade strong in years to come ..ask Billy .

Buhrer could've covered center for 9 minutes and Felise could have shown us what he's got .

Didn't this Felise bloke run for a stellar 65 metres in 40 minutes with poor post contact metres and 20 tackles? In NSW cup, Kings plod but still better.

JJ's on a short-term deal playing for his future. If he doesn't perform he won't be here next year.

As low a risk a signing as you could hope for, at least he wasn't signed on a 4-year deal up front.

An average start so far, but don't write him off until the end of 2018.

Of course he knew exactly how bad of a shape we were in as a club, because he’s the one who did it. Funny that.
He certainly did him and Tinkerbell both tried to buy a comp it didn't work and they left a pile of **** behind now Brown is getting rid of said pile and doing a good job as a long term project , Bennett said it would be a long term project Brown said the same and West's have said the same so lets give Brown the time he needs .
Bennett bought crap to win the comp once Brown is fishing through the crap to find diamonds to win the comp numerous times and doing well so far .
Ponga , Skd , Watson, Pearce , Barnett , Guerra , Griffin , Ese,ese all diamonds that Brown bought along with a couple that he kept and have started to play good footy Daniel , Fitzy , Levi , …
In my opinion Brown is doing really well in putting a team together that will do us proud down the track.
He has had setbacks with players that he wanted going somewhere else Scott , Bird , Graham and so on but he has waded through the crap we called a club and is now on the other side with where he wants to be in sight he still has a lot to do but is getting there .
People should give the guy a break but as always its easy to mouth off about someone when your not the one wading through the crap ...
