Mason won't be getting away

We have all heard the story of how Willie Mason slipped through the Knights fingers after he trialled without success for a place in the clubs junior representative teams.
The rest, as they say, is history.Well ,don't expect it to happen twice.
Willie's younger brother Rodney ,17, was one of almost 160 triallists for the Harold Matthews under-16 and SG Ball under-18 teams last weekend.
The young Mason,a front or second rower ,wasn't the only name player to trial.
Former Knights first graders Steve Fulmer and Tony Herman's sons Hadden and Matt both trialled for the ball team as well as federal Minister for Defence and former Cessnock winger Joel Fitxgibbon's son Jack.
Another former knight,Tim Morrison's son Josh has only played two seasons of league after being a convert from soccer but did well in the matthews trial while the grandson of of Scone's former test winger Don 'bandy' Adams,Adam Clydsdale, made the trip down from the upper hunter.
In the best indication yet that the club's recent policy of recruiting juniors outside the area is over,91% of the triallists were locals.
Recruitment boss Keith Onslow can take a lot of the credit for that.
