Knights signing an English player

It’s fantasy land. You don’t experiment with someone who hasn’t played there when like you said you have Hoy and Toa who have and excelled through the grades there.

Pure stupidity like moving Ponga to 5/8th at this stage of his career.

Meh. If the coach goes with it, then I'm happy with that. He knows what he's doing.

Luckily he can pick up on the fly signings as it’s saved this season with Mann out of 5/8th. Knowing what he is doing is 50/50 at this stage as this season was wasting away to nothing until last week.

It will be interesting to see what they will do next year.
Toohey is pretty confident Green won't be here, I guess that means we hope Crossland is ready. Even if he is it will take him time to get the composure of Green.

After having a taste of what it is like with a genuine 5/8(and no offence to Mann's efforts to date) but I do hope that Obi not looking at Green for another season means that he expects Crossland to be developed to an NRL standard in the halves by 2021 and doesn't still see Mann as his halves pairing next year with Brailey back in the 9 and Watson as utility?

Maybe pearce could play fullback? Or Klemmer?
Never seen them play there but no one will know until they’re put there, right?

Did I miss something? Has OB said he isnt looking at Green for next season? After 1 game where he was the better half?

We have more fullbacks than you can poke a stick at.
Hoy was NSW under 20s fullback last year - and went great.
Best was NSW under 18s fullback last year - and went great.
To'a was junior Kiwis fullback last year - and was best on ground.
Even Christopher Vailia (spell) from our under 16s played for the Pacifica rep side last year.
Kurt Mann also had his best game last year at fullback.
Tuala could probably do OK at fullback, but I think he'd be our 6th choice after Ponga, Hoy, Mann, Best and To'a.

In the post match presser, both O'Brien & Pearce acknowledged the benefits of Green being there with freeing everyone up so it's not like they're idiots, they understand the situation so that gives me a lot of hope. He stuck with Mann for a long time but I guess he didn't want to throw Crossland in the deep end yet, we all wanted him in there but he has played very little first-grade so it's understandable.

If Green kills it for the rest of the year I think we'll make room. Would be moronic to not even try, I'm sure we can move some things around in order to fit him in the cap. The challenge would be big offers coming from a struggling team. Otherwise we just run with Crossland hopefully.

I daresay he would love Green for 2021, or even someone better to play 5/8, but it appears the cap is tight and/or Green will want a longer deal than we would be willing to offer to a bloke turning 35 next year.

If Green continues to play strong and fits our needs we would be mad to not make him a reasonable offer which in turn for 2021 would likely mean Mann takes over Watson’s position but plays lots more games and Watson is likely out in the cold. That then allows Crossland to develop further, with hopefully games in reserves, with his eye on 5/8 in 2022.
Mann fits the bill for 14 but can also be used in many positions, 1-6+9, in case of injuries. Cap not used for Watson, Glasby, Ese’ese etc can be used for Friz, Green and Mann upgrade.

IMHO crazy not to get him for next year. With Friz coming in, and if we can get the team firing with Green at 6, we can have a real shot at a premiership.

Our young halves get another year of learning in and we can roll on from there.

Green could put probably get another deal elsewhere like the Broncos, but here he could have a real shot at a premiership.

Bump Watson, and give Green some of his money.

If Management are putting together a pool of money for Green, it would have to be Watson's money.

Is Tau gone next year? That’s a little bit there. Watson is starting to look like the odd one out, unless Mann cuts it rough being a utility.

I’m sure Tau will not get another contract with the Knights.

They would have budgeted Tau's money 6 months ago.
If they are going to sign a 500k player they haven't budgeted for, someone they have been budgeting for has to go.

Just saw a thread on a huddersfield forum where someone said they looked at his highlight package and asked if he was that good.
Only reply from a huddersfield fan was simply "they don't put mistakes on highlights".

I am guessing we are under the assumption that Guerra would not be kept beyond 2020? I would love a one year deal...two may be too much. Heck he could probably get a three year deal in the ESL. It's a shame about the injuries.

I wouldn’t mind a one year deal if we didn’t have Frizell coming in, but to be honest would rather keep the spot and $$ for a young up and coming player tbh... I.e would have preferred to keep Fermor.
