Knights sign Andrew McCullough for rest of the season

Have not posted in a long time but thought id share that i really like the signing of McCullough, while he won't win games on his own. that's not what he was brought in for. a strong defender around the ruck, stable service out of dummy half and a decent kicking game from dummy half when needed. you dont get close to 300 games at one club unless your a strong club man too.

can he kick goals? after two games goal kicking is at 64% which is abysmal

I try and keep out of any personal stuff that gets posted on here, but I just wanted to give cowboyman some support. When we signed Enari Tuala last year I thought it was a bit of a coup. I read cowboyman's comments with interest as he would have had a pretty close look at him week in/week out. CBM was of the opinion that we had signed a goodun, bemoaned the fact the cowboys had let him go and forecast that with good coaching, we had a potential origin centre on our hands. I found him most balanced on that occasion. Now he thinks that McCullough is a bit slow out of dummy half. Entitled to his opinion as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure Obi is looking at his strong defence and knows the attack will come from elsewhere, so isn't too concerned. The whole covid thing got a bit wacky on here but I won't condemn anyone for that.

Others on this site are entitled to the opinion as well without being belittled by cowboyman, this is why I believe this forum would be much better without him.

You can even go back further to when you nabbed Ponga off us. I said he would be the best player in the world in 2 years. I and many other Cowboys fans had no ill will towards Kalyn with how everything went.

Wasn't a serious guess on my part although Michael Hagan (a Queenslander would have been my second guess). He probably doesn't need the money though.

Actually read just now that Hagan will be aiding in calling Knights games for Triple M Newcastle so scratch that as well.

The more I think about it, the more it seems like a really good purchase. It's for less than a year, with the Broncos chipping in at least part of the contract. He's an Origin player, no off-field issues (that I can recall?) and apparently known as a good clubman. We have a hooking guru in Bedsy at the club already, but I'm sure all our more inexperienced hookers could learn plenty from Macca as a current player. It will keep Watson at his strongest position in 14, and gives Randall a chance to earn a shot in firsts, rather than having the pressure of being thrown in the deep end and playing substantial minutes each week, particularly after a long break between games. I agree that Macca can be slow, but he's an experienced player in a position of need. Broncos will be happy to free up space for Fifita or promote a junior or 2, so everyone is a winner with this IMO.

Plus, the bloke wants to come here and play for us. For mine, that's a real vote of confidence from an established player such as McCullough. We must be moving in the right direction, as far as player perception goes.
 
I hope Willie is right and the guy wasn't getting on with his coach and needs a fresh start.
We might get some good footy out of him if that's true.
We probably won't get much out of him if the Broncs have let him go on form.
 
Seibolds probably just getting rid of Bennett’s old guard at the Broncos. Not saying that he will be a different player for us but as they say it’s best to get players playing in a contract year
