A penalty kick is all Knights Captain, Andrew Johns needs to score his 2000th career point when Newcastle hosts the Bulldogs at EnergyAustralia Stadium this Friday night at 7.30pm.

Heading into tomorrow’s match on 1998 points, Johns is expected to reach the milestone in his 225th game for the club, surpassing 224 appearances by Robbie O’Davis and just five matches shy of Tony Butterfield’s 230 games.

“After 12 years playing First Grade, Andrew is still capable of playing his best football yetâ€, said Knights Coach, Michael Hagan.

“Joey’s dedication is a driving force for the team.â€

Meanwhile, Hagan has named David Seage as Anthony Quinn’s replacement, who was found guilty by the NRL Judiciary overnight for a grade one dangerous throw.

Quinn will serve a two week suspension.

“We have a solid replacement in David. He has been to hell and back with rehabilitation and knows what an important opportunity this isâ€, said coach, Michael Hagan.

“David has been dynamic in Premier League and he’s no stranger to First Grade. He joins the side with our full confidenceâ€.

In other club news, five-eighth Kurt Gidley and front rower, Josh Perry will play in tomorrow night’s blockbuster.

Gidley was suffering a corked hamstring but has passed a fitness test, while Perry has been cleared of a minor knee injury.

Newcastle Knights captain Andrew Johns is just two points short of recording his 2000th career point, and will be out to reach the milestone when the Knights take on the Bulldogs on Friday night.

Johns is currently sitting on 1998 points and will be looking to get past the 2000-mark early in the game so that he can concentrate on more important things such as the premiership points.

Knights coach Michael Hagan has paid tribute to Johns ahead of the match, explaining that his inspirational captain is in career-best form and is such a motivation too all those around him.

"After 12 years playing First Grade, Andrew is still capable of playing his best football yet," Hagan said.

"Joey’s dedication is a driving force for the team."
