Jersey Flegg 2024

Got up 22-14. 4 tries in the last 20 minutes. Sutton and Hami turned it on with 2 try assists each. Votano kicked 3 from 4.
Lucky escape that one
We have struggled against the bottom teams almost all year

Would be good next year to be able to start with our top team and just have them play all year in flegg and then let those extended squad first grade and nsw cup players play NSW cup

Sure there is times people need promotion but it seems to stunt players going backwards and forwards sometimes

Penrith easily accounting for Souffs today means highest we can finish is 3rd if Manly best Doggies today. All this relying on us beating Storm who are 12th and on 4 game losing streak.

Sharks only other team who can catch us and push us to 5th if we lost if they beat 11th placed Warriors. Either way finals locked in, excited for the team and its future.

So Sharks side has had 5 big 50+ scores in a row and gone from 8th to 5th to make the finals.
Looks impressive till you see they played last placed Fiji twice, and second last, 3rd last and 5th last sides in a row.
We have only played one side out of the top 8 in our last 5 and had a win over 2nd placed Panthers as we won 4 of our last 5.

  • Blake Woodford
  • Kyle McCarthy
  • Logan Aoake
  • Paul Bryan
  • Sebastian Su'a
5 inclusions from reserve grade.
2 have played firstgrade.

1 Fletcher Hunt
2 Logan Aoake
3 Votano
4 Kyle McCarthy
5 Latu
6 Loza
7 Sutton
8 Zeb Sua
9 Jacob Davis
10 Paul Bryan
11 ESL
12 McKewn
13 Myles Martin

14 Malachi Smith
15 Whitby
16 Hilliar
17 Carmichael

Paul Bryan is the only player who played in our Flegg GF in 2022.
Fletcher Sharpe could be in from the 2022 GF side, but he has another game on apparently.
Liam Sutton and Myles Martin were in the squad, but didn't make the GF side.

1 Fletcher Hunt - Started the year in SG Ball - new to the club this year after playing LD cup and schoolboys for NSWCHS
2 Logan Aoake - Started the year in Ball and has played Flegg and reserve grade
3 Votano - Started the year in Ball and has played Flegg and reserve grade as well as under 19s SOO
4 Kyle McCarthy - has played Flegg, reserve grade and firstgrade this year
5 Latu - started in Ball
6 Loza - started in Ball
7 Sutton - has played Flegg and reserve grade this year
8 Zeb Sua - has played Flegg, reserves and firstgrade
9 Jacob Davis - has played Flegg and a lot of reserve grade
10 Paul Bryan - has played Flegg and a lot of reserve grade
11 ESL - played a lot of reserve grade early in the season as well as Flegg
12 McKewn - Ball, Flegg, reserve grade and NSW under 19s
13 Myles Martin - felgg and reserve grade

14 Malachi Smith - Ball and Flegg
15 Whitby - Flegg and reserve grade
16 Hilliar - Ball and Flegg
17 Carmichael - Ball and Flegg

11 of the players have played reserve grade and 2 have had a taste of firstgrade. Some of them like Sua, Bryan, Davis, McCarthy, Sutton ans ESL were strong contributors in many of our wins in Reserve grade.
The team that played the 2022 GF for us had 8 players in their last year of Flegg including Cant, Riley Jones, Kurt Donoughoe, Jaron Purcell, Brock Greacen, Cal Burgess etc. This team has 4 - Sua, Bryan, Sutton and Martin.
The 2022 side had 4 or 5 who started the year in Ball - this side has 9 who started in Ball.
The team this year would average about a year younger than the 2022 side, but seems just as talented I think.

Was about write this sharks side has really hit a great patch of form and have a very strong squad. Then read who they’ve played.

Either way will be very tough finals series. Raiders have been the top team in Flegg and Cup all year.

Wonderful talent coming through, very exciting.

Record against sides that finished in the top 5

Knights have won 3 - Panthers x 2 and Bulldogs - lost 4 - Canberra x 2, Bulldogs and Sharks

Sharks have won 1 - Knights - lost 6 - Canberra x 2, Panthers x 2, Bulldogs x 2

Sua, Bryan and McCarthy are all out - replaced by Jack Cullen, Whitby and Harley Walker.
I wondered how they qualified.
Obviously they didn't.
