Jarrod Mullen says he will be back next week v Raiders

For the first time, I really hope the selectors overlook Gidley.

Sure if picked for the blues he would do great but Kurt has had trouble with injuries for a few years now and if picked he good easily re-injure something due to how tough and fast origin is compared to reg season.

All I want is for Gidley to focus on captaining our side to the finals for 2014 and that's all. If he can just focus on club level then it would be massively beneficial to the side.

Gids will be a definite for Origin, if fit. Also, Laurie Daley said that Jarrod Mulled getting injured has put a dent in his origin plans for 2014.

Players like Gidley and half of the AUS team you don't worry about form, you know what you're going to get from them when it matters most.

That's the point how does anyone know what they're going to get from Gidley. Sure he's never given anything less 100% in fact quite often he tries too hard but he's getting older and he's injury prone.

You answered it yourself, as long as he's fit he's going to give 100% as he always has. There's some players you can't question their heart and Gids is one of them. Whether he's injury prone or not doesn't matter, if he's fit at Origin time there's all but zero chance he won't get selected because they know what he brings to a team. Sure beats Reynolds playing 5 minutes over an entire series.

I know it's high expectations of the kid, but I really think Hoppa will run amok from the get go, he's too much of a freakish talent not to. He and Hayne could create an awesome combo in my opinion. He's only 21, so it'd be a lot easier to come back now rather than at something like mid to late twenties. The Morris boys are a bit weird, especially Josh, he seems to have a crappy year every couple of years, so he's probably due for a good year actually. I know it'd be a unfair to drop McManus, but if Hoppa comes back strong and with the emergence of the likes of BJ and potentially others, he probably should lose his spot. It was seen last night with Siddle in the cricket, it was a bit unfair to drop him, but there was too much younger better talent emerging.

The only reason I think it'll take him a while to get back into his groove is because he looks so skinny compared to 2011, I thought he would beef up before the season but even in the trial game he played, he still looked heaps skinny. He'll still have the skills but when it comes to the power he had, it might take him a while.

Couldn't help but laugh when I read that. Bloke last year, just after the Grand Final, before a ball was even kicked in the World Cup, said he's sticking with Pearce and Maloney. If he makes that call so early, it shows he's going to stick with them regardless of how well other players who deserve those positions just as much and in some cases, more. Unless either of them get injured, Mullen, Carney, Reynolds etc can forget about playing rep footy.

It's been a while since Gidley stood up to rigors of weekly NRL footy. I hope for our Team's chances he does this year. I just can't assume that at week 20 of this season that he'll be there and be the player we have come to expect. Of course I hope he does aim up but I'm not taking it as a given.

Just shows how stupid Laurie Daley is. Mullen's kicking/passing, A Reynolds skill/kicking, Carney's running/skill > Pearce's..uh..nothing. Don't mind Maloney but he didn't do much in Origin level as he did at club level.

Gidley won't be in any rep sides this year. I'd be willing to put anything on that.

If he was selected for Aus and NSW last year after playing basically no games, why wouldn't he be chosen again? Every year people say he won't get picked and he always does, rep coaches absolutely love him in their team, that's not Knights bias it's just fact and it will be no different this year. I'd put anything on that.

Gidley needs his own thread. So many opinions. Personally as captain i think he owes it to the club to just concentrate on the knights

Na I can't agree with you guys. I think Gidley's ship has well and truly sailed. They will look to youth now.

Exactly short of either breaking a leg Mullo was never going tobe considered.

Daleys just an absolute clown, I'll never take him seriously after he tried to get SBW registered for NSW recently.

If your being legit I'll take that for $200.

If Gids himself retires that voids the bet for both of us though.

Because there is no way in the world DCE would be dropped off the bench for him now. Not that hard to see really.

Sure, just gotta hope Daley isn't as stupid as he seems to be now

Already doing this sort of work.

Honestly didn't think he would be even close so soon after the injury, rather just doing light running.
