Jamie Buhrer announces retirement

Buhrer to stay

Jamie Buhrer has been cagey about his future at the Knights beyond the end of this season but take it from us he’ll definitely be at the club in 2019.

One of the Knights most popular and respected figures, we’re told the guarantee of a new deal was made to Buhrer weeks ago, even if he failed to play the required number of games to activate an option in his contract for next season which he will

You scared me Simon.

There is a difference between re-signing and resigning lol! For mine his utility value is his main asset.

2299 - Jamie does have utility value but we can only afford one utility on our bench at a time, it has been noticeable that using our current rotation we lack any respectability and often fall in a hole, that is why we need news of someone big and scary

Am surprised we put in a games played quota in a contract after what happened with that clown Reynoldson over 10 years ago after he gambled on playing 15 games then got injured.

I've seen some people say 'If Barnett is in our best 17 each week, we're not strong enough overall' I fell the same about JB. Good to have him in the squad but if he plays 20 plus games next year, not going to be in the finals I don't think.

I think Barnett has a high ceiling, the middle is the best for him. I think he could be similar to a Ryan James.

Im on the fence with Barney, I stood up form him earlier this season when people were calling him out, but his form has been patchy at best this year.

Needs a big season next year.

Don't think we can sign both Bbuhrer and Yates, as for Barnett we need better, 14-17 at best next season or we have serious injuries or out of running for top 8, he came as a reserve grader and I have seen nothing to change that, as team got better he declined, or if you want as team got better he didn't. Glasby at 13, Fitz and Guerra 11 and 12, Sione backup then Barnett, Stone, Jones etc if we sign no one else

If we have a fair dinkum NRL competitive team JB won't be in 1st grade. Watson should be taking his utility spot on the bench if we get our chit together.

French to fullback, Watson to bench as hooker interchange/backline insurance, Segyaro or Levi at hooker (whoever earns the spot).

Buhrer was way down on form this year from last year, and he should have been putting his best foot forward to earn a contract.
He probably had a lot more injury concerns than we were told about.
If he can put that behind him, he should be at least a bench option.

Great clubman and great value to lead the reggies and young guys coming through. And at a pinch, a tight pinch admittedly, NRL bench spot. As Clint did in his final year.
