Jackson Hastings

I interpreted it as “there’s something pretty serious going on with the leg that I’d love to tell you about, but can’t risk it becoming public knowledge until the season is over, because it could be used against me”.

Seemed a pretty innocuous incident to cause him to be ruled out. Either he wasn’t 100% and the knock just reignited it. Or, as he says, it got him on a screw and maybe triggered a nerve or some pain. If it’s the latter, he probably needs some surgery to address it/remove hardware or adjust screws or something.

Either way, I think his season is done. I don’t think we can carry the risk into any of the other games we may or may not have left. Thankfully Gamble and Mann did very well to cover.
His season is definitely done. Even if he says he’s fit we can’t risk another occurrence like today. I heard that when some have the op he had they go back in and remove the metal which obviously Jackson didn’t do. I wonder whether that’s still an option for the off-season?

Yeah.. reading that I think the 'there's a lot going on there' comment is just in relation to his leg, I think he needs to decide on some surgeries or not with it would be my take.

I hope Jacko recovers fully from his injury. As I said in another thread he may just need to have the hardware removed from his foot.

We are fortunate to have signed Cogger.

He has battled through all season with an injury that meant he couldn't do much last off season.
A long rest and low impact training will do him the world of good.
Cogs and Gamble will lead the team all off season so we could start next year with them as our halves and let Jacko have the long rehab he obviously needs and bring him back in when he is as good as he can be.
Get him a bike so he can do low impact rides every day, arrange regular physio so the tendon doesn't shrink, and if he takes till round 10 next year to rehab properly, we can cover that.

Yeah I tend to agree Billy. It’s good that he was so keen to get back on the field and establish himself but I’d say he has a mortgage on that 7 jersey now with what he’s done so far. Whatever it takes to get that leg in the best possible state for the long term, he should do that.
