HVN cup 2026

Minor premiers Knights get a bye for first round of finals
In round 2 of finals they play the winners of the 2 v 3 game for a spot in the GF (Souths v Penrith)
They get another chance to qualify for the GF the next week if they lose in week 2.

Charley Lahmert was awarded Player of the Year for the comp.
Well deserved.
She was great in every game, but that game against the Mounties where we were beaten at halftime and Charley tore them to bits with individual runs in the second half and looked completely exhausted by the end was one of the best efforts I've seen.

2 Souths beat 3 Penrith

4 Mounties beat 5 Roosters

Games next week

1 Knights v 2 Souths - winner goes to GF - loser plays winner of the other final

3 Penrith V 4 Mounties

Mounties beat Penrith 28 - 4

Some very odd changes for Knights team to play Souths.

11 Summer Dowell has been moved from second row to starting hooker

9 Elers has been moved to the bench

14 Lilly-ann White will start in the second row

I assume strong defenders Dowell and White are in to counter the early power game of the big Souths side.

6 - 12 at halftime

ref is a disgrace - you expect refs to make errors at this level, but if the errors all go one way, it's a bad look.

17 year old Pearson has been really impressive since joining the side a month or so ago.
She was very good in TG too, but has gone to a new level.
She's pretty big and strong for a centre - possibly a future second row.

We get the week off and firstgrade will probably dip out of the finals next week.

I wonder if we can bring in Lahmert, McArthur, Karpani or maybe even Spain - they have all played plenty of reserve grade this year.

Fun fact - This will be the 7th grandfinal the Knights have played in lower grades - 4 in Tarsha Gale and 2 in reserve grade previously.

We are 0 from 6 in lower grade GFs.
