Is anyone else up watching this? I guess it starts at 6am over in Aus, so maybe not ... But it's a beautiful 7:45 here and I'm feeling wonderful and looking forward to an improved Kiwis performance. :)

No vocals for the national anthems, interesting.

A guy in the crowd looked a bit like Big Dan.

We are stuck with the crack-New Zealand commentary team over here. ;-(

Well that's the softest try the Kiwis have conceded yet.

Added after 30 minutes:

Kiwis are looking a lot better, but haven't taken their chances on the Australian line ... Another try to Aus after half an hour and it's 12-0.

Ruck speed is snails pace.

Added after 11 minutes:

Argh, try to Thurston before halftime to kill it as a contest at 16-0.

I've seen improvement from the Kiwis though, enough to say they should be capable of beating England to make the final.

Gotta say Moimoi is past it! At international level, at least. Zero impact.

Oh -Uate update: he's dropped a bomb and been bundled into touch, but has made a few good runs. The ball's gone the other way, a little bit, though.

I'm watching it too James, fairly boring contest I must say. Australia are just playing one out, zero error footy, although it works I find it hard to watch.
 
The ref is just spoiling it again with the slow ruck speed - there's not much else they can do really.

Nightingale in early in the second half - 16-6, c'mon Kiwis!!!

Moimoi suddenly making some good runs haha.

Rats, Darius Boyd in ... The Kiwis defence suddenly looking fragile again. 22-12, still 15 to go.

Added after 17 minutes:

Uate crosses to make it Aus 22, NZ 12, Fiji 4 as NZ give Aus field position throwing it round on the last trying to find a try.

Bar that late try which was due to the game situation more than anything, the second half was 12-6 to the Kiwis ... Definitely something to work on with an eye to the final!

They really need to improve their first halves though. If they do then back to back titles are a chance!

Oh, and I think this ref needs to stay for the Kiwis hopes - the slow play-the-balls suit them.

Hahaha Fiji 4... Love it.

Missed the game, will catch the highlights later.

Boyd and Aku in te try scorings again, pleasant to see.
 
Tony Williams also scored, so final score is Australia 18, New Zealand 12, Tonga 4, Fiji 4. Not so bad when you look at it like that. :P

Plus take Moimoi for Tonga out of the Kiwis and they might improve a bit too. :lol:

Benji Marshall's defence on Tony Williams was appalling. That cost NZ two tries ... I have to hand it to Williams, I didn't think he deserved a spot in the squad, but he's playing very well for the Kangaroos.

I actually thought Tony Williams was a Tim Sheen's 'masterstroke'. The guy is a human wrecking ball, but I was beginning to feel like I was the only to see it. Still don't approve of Farah being anywhere near the squad, or Tim Sheen's taking the reigns for that matter.
 
I got up to watch it. IMO, the first half was quite boring to watch. NZ did improve from the game a fortnight ago, really made Australia work down the right edge.

Glad both Uate and Boyd scored again.
 
They'd have been better than the New Zealand ones we were stuck with (the terrible ones who do the Warriors home games).

Stevo is great, he's a laugh.
 
I got up early to watch the 5 oclock kickoff. Was a pretty boring game I must say but good to see some NRL again and Uate got another try so 3 in 2 games. Bring on the res of the comp
