EPL Season 2025/6

Bloody hell.

Horrible EPL form.

Not sure how their first is much different to the goal we had disallowed the other week for an offside player in front of the keeper. I don’t think either had any effect on the outcome - both were going in, but those inconsistencies are frustrating.

They just looked hungrier.

Salah probably would’ve come away with 2 contributions last season. Just not working for him this season.

Strange that United fire their manager and suddenly come out with one of the best performances of the season so far.

Makes me wonder how they'll fare against Arsenal, could see them jamming a draw or getting flogged, but not really much in between.
 
Just revisiting this thread to shout about Liverpool’s last minute victory over local rivals Everton! A rare high point in what has been a drudge of a season……

Hopefully that is top 5 and Champions League sorted for next but not counting my chickens just yet.
 
I don’t doubt it for a second but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Probably the universe equalling things out after Tarkowski scored that absolutely worldie of a half volley in the last minute a year ago.
 
Yeah and look ultimately Everton would be in Europe next season if they could find even an okay centre forward. Burned so much of the season on Barry who deadset makes it feel like you’re playing with ten men & is a plonker who doesn’t get the club. The alternative is Beto, who does, is wholehearted, and gets himself into great positions but just isn’t clinical & makes very poor mistakes. Even if Grealish didn’t get hurt, there’s only so much value you can get out of all these quality midfielders with a donkey up front. And fullbacks who provide nothing in attack.

Also, some way better transfer business than usual, but also some I really don’t get… what consistently works for this club is picking the eyes out of fringe players at big six clubs who aren’t getting game time - those guys ended up at those clubs for a reason - and taking low risk gambles on cheapies from like the Championship or Ligue 1 who fit a specific profile. Maybe I’ll end up with egg on my face in the long run but the biggest outlay for this season being Tyler Dibling, and then he gets zero games, that pissed me off… spaffing all that money on a guy you’re not going to play. Everton are not City FFS.

I only really watch Everton games against Liverpool so can’t really comment with any authority but Beto always looks like a handful to play against. Big, strong and pacy he usually gives our CBs a run for their money.

No doubts that Grealish was a talisman before getting injured. Shame that happened and wonder if he’ll transfer permanently.

Was really impressed by Dewsbury-Hall. Looked for more accomplished than Wirtz yesterday despite costing £100m less!
 
Yeah KDH rules he might be my favourite. Genuine quality on top of being all effort all action. KDH, Ndiaye, Garner, Branthwaite, Tarky and obviously Pickford & Grealish are all quality quality footballers (Tarky getting on a bit though). The drop off to a lot of the other guys is massive though.

From all reports Grealish is desperate to come across permanently so hope so.

Yeah I think there’s a place for Beto and I hope he gets re-signed, one of those guys where he does provide value even with some massive flaws. My hope is that he’ll re-sign and be happy to accept being the #2 striker and that a lot of his appearances will be off the bench, but that’s a big ask, especially since if he now went somewhere like Italy he’d probably absolutely smash it. It’s just you’re not in a great spot if he’s your first choice. He does have a great habit of scoring against the red scum though 😆

When I was working in London, I got friendly with an English bloke who said he would take me to as many EPL games as I wanted as long as Everton were playing. So for two years, we followed Everton around the South of England. I was there the day that Arsenal beat us at Highbury in their last home game of the season to win the title. Overmars, Bergkamp, I think, and Tony Adams all scored...they stuffed us four-nil.

It was amazing. The whole of North London was heaving; there were 40,000 at the ground and maybe as many or more outside listening on radios. People were dancing on buses and begging us to buy our tickets to sit in the Everton end at great personal risk. A copper on the way in said, "Where are you from today sir"? and I wasn't expecting the question and said "Australia mate" and he laughed and said "but who are you supporting?"

That's a fantastic story. Few things better than a top flight football game with real stakes on the line!

As a big City fan (who was actually at the league cup final in Wembley last month), have to say I'm feeling pretty good about the state of things after this morning. Nice palette cleanser after being at the Knights game yesterday, which was decidedly less fun...

Great story. I remember that game. Adams scored the last goal with an absolute thunder bolt.

My in-laws are Everton season ticket holders and one game someone couldn’t make it so I went. It was the game against West Ham where Di Canio stopped the game with an open goal in front of him because the keeper was injured. The whole crowd stood to applaud him.

Yeah I reckon City will do it now. Not too fussed as Arsenal play **** football and will still be nice for Liverpool to be the only team to disrupt your tainted monopoly on the title.
