English Recruits Watch

There was some chat on here a few weeks ago about Pryce being just a 1 or a 6 but for those not familiar with his Dad Leon’s playing career he played Five Eight, Full Back, Centre and Wing not just across his career but sometimes during the same season and at International level too. Let’s see if he has that in his genes. He’s not as tall or rangy as his father but he’s quick and probably more elusive.

More good signs. Dynamite in open space. Definitely see him as an outside back/fullback.
The defence from Clifford lmao. Still a good run though, Pryce makes those breaks look easy which probably says more about his talent than it does about the defence considering how often he does it and the fact they're all 50m plus tries.

The biggest problem we'll have with Pryce is not that he lacks the talent to make it in the NRL but he may lack the mettle. He's never really needed to put in 100% effort because he's always been better than everyone around him. And the standard of ESL would be feeding into that complacency. Imo his career would've been far better served if he'd come here immediately upon signing. We signed him when he was still 19, only months before he turned 20 but he'll be 21 when he arrives, that's less that ideal imo, especially considering he'll be walking into a completely new set of systems and standards. If he were born here he probably would've debuted as a teenager and would've been more professionally developed at 19 than he will be by the time he debuts with us next year. Imagine finding Latrell Mitchell in the ESL and bringing him over at 21 years of age. The implications are the same for Pryce imo. Hopefully he is a professional.

The more I see of him the more I think with a good pre-season he could be our next right winger. He’ll obviously need to learn the defensive patterns but it will be an easier introduction than trying to force his way in at 6 (I’m not even thinking about him at 1).

I don't think Pryce has the game management skill or vision to play 6 in the NRL, unless he was next to a complete and domineering 7, which Hastings is not.

Pryce is an NRL fullback, centre or wing. And while it would be a waste of his talents to play him on the wing that's probably where he fits best into next year's squad

He moves well, reminds me a bit of val holmes. I like the suggestion of perhaps Gagai moving to wing and Maps, Tuala and Pryce fighting it out for the centre spot.

I think there’s a decent chance his last season in Super League will have humbled him somewhat.

He doesn’t even have it to play there in the Super League 😂
He's played a fair bit of second receiver in his career. Over there he's regarded as a fullback, but similar to Ponga where he slots in closer to the ruck sometimes at the end of sets to take control of final plays.

Pryce scored a try in his last game for Huddersfield. Hopefully for his sake he gets over here ASAP to get settled before pre-season kicks off.

Wigan/KPP won the minor premiership and now have a week off before the grand final qualifier. He'll be in the England squad after the season so I'd say his first official day here will be when the squad comes back in early January.
