David Stagg linked with Knights

David Stagg > knights its in a small article in this mornings herald.

Wtf for? He's no better then Hilder? We suck, every one else getting big names and we get Scott and stagg.

Can I add he's another non attacking player, this ****s me big time. He would want to be dirt cheap.

Stagg is a tough quality lock who makes a thousand tackles a game ,which should be criteria no.1 for signing players in my opinion.

Yep, he'd be a quality signing and would fit into the Knights no problems ... just the type of player our club was built on in it's early years.

I don't understand this too much, unless Hilder and Costigan are on the outer... but why replace when they are all similiar?

It's pretty obvious Hilder is on the outer isn't it? And not being considered as a back rower, anyway.

Stagg would be a huge improvement on Costigan, or Houston, tbh.

When Scott arrives I'd like Houston to move to lock. We need size and he would be that middle man. That's all he does anyway.

Then chase a strong left second rower. I thought it was going to be Taia but guess not, hopefully Bird :)

SO if we get Stagg thats 3 80 minute 2RF's. Is that Cya later Costigan??

Or will Costigan play FRF from the bench?

If the reasons given on here about us letting Taia go are correct (missed tackles and errors) then we will never go after Bird while Bennett is in charge, he's miles worse in both departments.

Anyway, he's contracted to Gold Coast until the end of next year.

The last thing we need is another one dimensional worker in our side. We have too many of those forwards in our side as it is.

Houston should be the worker we have at lock and bring in some attacking backrowers that will threaten the line, i.e, Bird.

I'd honestly rather keep Hilder than sign Stagg.

i would really like to know whats going through Waynes head atm!
What plans he has for out 2013 roster! Doesnt really make sense atm!

When I said I can't wait for players to be brought in that play with nothing but pride and guts, this is exactly the kind of player I was talking about. He will tackle until his heart stops beating and will never let his teammates down and he has a decent offload in him. Like Houston and Hilder, he lacks attack but defends like a beast and he'll be an improvement over the 2 of them. Still fairly young too for the wealth of experience he has and should come at a considerable price. Play him at lock with Scott on the right and either Mason on the left or sign a weapon backrower.

There's no point keeping Hilder since Bennett obviously doesnt see him as a lock, all he is now is a mediocre hooker that can barely crack first grade. It's a waste of money.

The knights are certainly going to be boring next year. What would be a sight to see is, Bennett adjusting his coaching style to the knights natural style as opposed to adjusting the knights to the same defensive grind style.

Biggest one trick pony in the book.

That means little to nothing in today's game

Not the awesomest player out there, but i can understand it. He's not in too great form at the Dogs though & if he's not in form there hows he going to get in form here.

At first when you hear that Stagg is coming, you think wtf he is so crap & adds no solution to our current problems. But really, since when does Wayne want an attacking pack. It's pretty clear he wants to build our forward pack into a tough, big, grinding, intimidating & most of all, defensively sound pack. Once he gets that right, we'll start bashing teams up front & giving our backs the chance to do what they do. Yes the pack will be a boring bunch of workers, but atleast we won't leak anything & when we get the ball, hopefully by then we know how to attack.

You need some good attacking forwards though to get the best out of your backline. For example, Watmough is going to attract a lot more defenders running a decoy than Houston because he's more explosive with ball in hand and is harder to stop. Having a forward pack of only workers will just make us very predictable to defend.

Players like B. Scott and Stagg aren't 'big'!
IMO if we didn't have Beau Scott, okay.. but he's simply another version!

It will be funny having a Big Willie, Stagg and a Gagai in one team :O
Imagine the impact :P
