Current forward pack next year

Ok we are losing KPP, do we need to chase a replacement 2nd rower when we have McEwen, Manuleleua and ESL, if we don’t use Jones, Croker then why not rotate these three young guys with potential, play them off against each other for a regular right edge position.
Concentrate on getting a prop a weaker position

This is all very good but they're not going to find players as good as Leo or KPP for 2026.
We can find another 6’6” guy who has no idea how to play rugby league, just go over to America and grab someone who was up for the NBA draft and didn’t get picked.

The player may not be as good now but in 6 months could be as good as if not better.
Start playing the likes of McEwen, Manuleleua and ESL,on bench, Cant back to Cup, on a rotation basis giving them 20-30 minutes this season in preparation for next season possibly replacing KPP.
Do the same with Bryan at prop rotating with Jones and Croker, find out now if any good, develop or move on

It looks to me like building a young team towards a premiership window...the worst part of that timeline is where we're at now.
The reality is this, POS arrived and his first revelation may have been that a total rebuild was required before we would enter a premiership window, the next implication being that the rebuild wouldn't involve Ponga.

I think POS has planned for a team without Kalyn Ponga and this rebuild will be a 4 year process. Hence why there's no intent to sack the coach, because management favour stability over success during the rebuild.

We're losers, we've been hoodwinked and are in for a reckoning over the next 12 months. The pain hasn't even started yet

Have I read somewhere that POS is signed for 5 years? If true, then I think that's pretty telling.

Having watched the Dolphins trample an under strength Dogs side tonight, we could really use Keeley and Donahue atm.
Is Josh Kerr available for next year, and if so he would be a good pick up for us.

Where is everyone getting the idea from that we’re going for a rebuild without Ponga in mind? POS and AOB have both said they brought Brown in to help Ponga now, POS has also said he wants to re-sign Ponga on a contract that could reach 2 million a season. I think that’s a horrendous idea by the way because his ROI has been poor on his current contract as it is, but we’re clearly not trying to plan without him. The fact that we seem to be going for such a strict money ball approach in other positions also says they’re planning on Ponga being around.

We were never going to be able to just bring in a couple of extra players around Ponga and then suddenly have a premiership team. We have zero depth in the squad and you can’t have depth if you overpay everyone like we’ve been doing for years before POS came in.

The only answer as far as I’m concerned is a proper rebuild where we’re methodical. It’s completely up to Ponga whether he sees the vision or wants to move on but he’s not bigger than the club and we need to make decisions based around what’s best for the whole club long-term, not one player.

Unfortunately we can't be Canberra when KP and Brown are soaking up almost $3m between them.

We have zero depth now and we’re not even paying Brown at the moment.

I don’t actually have a big problem with having 2x million+ players in the spine. If you manage your squad well it’s very doable as other sides have shown. (For the record I’m still not sure KP and Brown are the right players to be investing that much in, but for the sake of discussion I’ll just say they are).

Our problem though is that we’ve significantly overpaid so many players, a lot of which wouldn’t even get a run at other clubs. DSaf on 800k, Hastings 800k, Pryce 400k, Hetherington 500k, Brailey 550k, KPP 750k, etc.

That’s nearly $4million (a third of our cap) just wasted on a bunch of players that wouldn’t be playing FG at most clubs (I do think DSaf and KPP are first graders but on much lower than they are).

With 4 million of cap space we could pay for Brown + 3 FG standard forwards, an outside back like say Dom and have some left for upgrades/depth signings. When you look at it like that we’ve had a wild amount of wastage.

We should’ve at least bid to make it more expensive for the tigers

600k is a good price for KPP imo
I agree with the principle, but according to Toohey yesterday, the Knights' valuation is nowhere near $600. So there's no offer they could have made that would increase the amount the Tigers had to pay without the risk of signing him on what they view as overs.
