Can the Dragons go back to back?

Moving along from Frosty's threads... looking at St George, Does anyone think they can go back to back?

2. Brett Morris
3. Mark Gasnier
4. Matt Cooper
5. Jason Nightingale
6. Jamie Soward
7. Ben Hornby
8. Dan Hunt
9. Nathan Fien
10. Michael Weyman
11. Beau Scott
12. Ben Creagh
13. Dean Young

14. Kyle Stanley
15. Matt Prior
16. Nick Emmett
17. Trent Merrin

I don't think they've got alot of depth due to the losses of Costigan, Smith, Saffy, Thorby in the front row. Obviously Priddis has retired and Henry to the Knights.

If injuries occur, I cant see them repeating this years performance... however, any team coached by Wayne Bennett is capable of anything.

Thoughts?

On paper yes, but when you have Wayne Bennett and Rugby Leagues greatest nursery talent wont be too far away when they need it.

I don't believe they can go back to back, they have lost much needed experience in the foward pack and have lost a lot of depth in their squad.

This is what I think they'll be likely to field in round 1.

Fairly well rounded squad, I don't rate Soward, apart from a long kicking game and the occasional 80m try, he has NOTHING!

Without Hornby and Young directing the team the Dragons would not have made the grand final for mine, Fien has been on fire of late, he has been really excelling for the Dragons and New Zealand.
 
I have St George placing 2nd in next years competition, due to salary cap restrictions winning an NRL title takes a fair toll on the roster for the following seasons however i think the Dragons have come out of it pretty well with the key loses being a few forwards: Neville Costigan, Jeremy Smith & Jarrod Saffy. I highly doubt the fundamentals which have been instilled into the squad will change they will still be the clinical, consistent and defensively superior outfit which helped them prevail in 2010.

I just feel 2011 will be a year where every side steps up and clubs such as the Wests Tigers who weren't that far off in 2010 may be able to exceed expectations with their attacking flair and Tim Sheens at the helm. I'm tipping the Tigers to take the minor premiership in 2011.
 
Nope. They have realy only lost players this year! I think Broncos, Warriors and bulldogs have a great chance next year
 
With the bulldogs it will take time for their new halves partnership to gell. Through the year they will probably get better, slowly though. As for Dragons they will struggle a bit. But I reckon they can still be in with a shot for the top 5
 
If Wayne Bennett stays then minor prims, and also with Mark Gaz and Nathen Fein getting better with each game the could still win the comp.
 
very possible in my eyes, definant top four finish but i think they may have a couple of extra origin players next year so that may affect the odd game or two so maybe not minor premiers..
