Brown on Wing: Dog Act?

Ex-Knight and I dont mind Riley but was last night a low act. I thought it was intentional and un called for considering Wing wasnt going anywhere in the tackle. Riley Brown came in with Wing facing his back to him shoulder charged him similar to the Andrew Johns/Luke Bailey incident in 2002.

Thoughts?

I thought it was a pretty cheap and dirty too. Watching the replay during the press conference, it seemed like it was pretty much planned.

Dissappointing thing is, no ones getting punished for it. Definitely not in the spirit of a fair game.

More so he'll be out for at least six weeks.

I thought the replays made it worse then it actually was. I was at the game and watching it side on it looked like a normal tackle, Wing was refusing to go down, Tupou wasnt holding him up in position. Wing was just in a bad spot and Brown just went in to complete that tackle and got him in a akward spot. Im sure if he had his time over he wouldnt of gone in with the shoulder but like freddie said in the press confrence: "thats footy" i dont think its something to get worked up about..

I guess were lucky that it was only Brown and not someone like Mason or O'Meley. Then we would have heard alot more.

Its unlucky for Wing. He was so upset about leaving the field.

It wasn't illegal or anything I just thought it was unsportsmanlike, the Roosters went into the game knowing they were going to target Wing.

During the tackle, Wing wasn't going anywhere he was wrapped up well by Anasta and Tupou, I think the ref should've called held.

It did look kinder of cheap, but they was nothing wrong with it...Wing just got himself in an aweful postition with his back exposed.

Wing tackle will be investigated

March 15,

2008 NRL officials have confirmed they would investigate the Wing incident. "We will look at it because he was hurt," chief video reviewer Greg McCallum said "It's a matter of finding out whether there was any illegality from the elbows or knees, whether it was a case of striking.

I dont think they can charge him...

"whether it was a case of stiking"

looked that way to me

definitely went out of his way to harm him...he was already held in the tackle ...there was no need for him to come in

I don't think it was as bad as Jason Taylor made out with the "his eyes were open wide saying I've got him now come get him", that was a bit dramatic of him but it was a pretty silly thing to do on Riley Browns behalf however there is no way he can be charged for that right now but if they have a problem with that maybe they should think about adding it into a rule of some sort but too late now.

It was cheap. There was no need for it and the outcome was bad for Wing. I hate it when players get injured like that. Its just crap, especially first game of the season.

Two men already in the tackle and there was no chance of an offload. The ref should have called held. Brown's doing nothing to assist the tackle, he's not wrapping the ball up, he's not helping put Wing on the deck. It's a cheap shot - shoulder to the back. He even slides off Wing after the initial hit and loses all contact with the player.

Happens too often in lots of matches.

Its similar to when players are held up in a tackle and a big forward comes charging in and his a stationary player, usually a smaller player.

Ive seen Ruben Wiki do it a few times

wayne bennet was quoted in the paper today saying that the refs should call held if the momentum has stopped that way there is no need for the 3rd tackler to come in

That's what I said on the other page, the ref should've called held any ways, then the incident wouldn't have happened.
