2027 pre-season thread

I would say DB won’t be available until after the first quarter of the season? That will be interesting what happens if all our spine is available.

All of a sudden we have a pretty deep squad with quality player unable to make FG. Anyway a ways off from that. I’m also excited about our hooker depth.
Db was asked by a mate at the open training session when he would be back and he said his on track for april. So i guess thats anywhere from round 5-9

The players I think should be motivated for the biggest off-season training camp of their lives and why:

1. Sandon Smith - if he works on developing a bigger boot, and his D - Jesus he’s going to be hard not to start at the expense of anyone.

2. Lachlan Crouch & Cody Hopwood - with the two Alphas back, and their finals & GF experience - they should be so hot & horny knowing that if they both improve - we can go all the way.

3. Francis & McKewan - Dyl Lucas is the best forward at the club when fit. I’m happy to debate this, but he’s basically the finished product. I don’t look at him and think “he could be better at x, y needs work”. He’s the finished product. These boys aren’t. Francis in my opinion could be the best edge forward in the comp, never mind the club. Has everything. Most players want to start, and Jermaine isn’t a starting middle (yet) and I’d have Lucas and Francis ahead of him in terms of edges. He should want to get plenty of reps in the off-season as a middle/lock. If he had Crokes’ hands, he’d be my 13.

4. Jacob & Trey - if they don’t have rugby league erections after seeing we made a GF and basically lost because of our middle rotation then they simply don’t care about prems.

5. Winter & Hunt - two players & one centre spot up for grabs. Rip in fellas.

6. Sharpe - all he needs to do is continue to add to what he’s already doing. Loved his long and short kicking game this year - just doesn’t do enough of either.

Manuleleua, McEwen and Saifiti won't be able to start training with the squad till after Christmas - but the good news is they are training right now with very high quality Samoan and Fijian squads and get to play 3 or 4 more quality games before their season is done.

Smith, Crouch, Hopwood and Sharpe can start training in December because they played right up till October.

Mooney and maybe Winter and Hunt should be able to have a full pre-season because they haven't played since the regular season finished.
