2026 Season

I'm actually pretty comfortable with this being a very strict standard for brawling IF it's consistently applied.

The problem with the biff is that it excludes players who just want to play footy. More importantly, it filters down to the juniors, and it very much discourages parents from allowing their kids to play. Those lost players, administrators, and fans cost the code significantly over the long haul.

What a headline. Team wide ban for 2 players having a push and shove. Your kidding right? Just like the rediculous punishments being handed down to juniors who say as much as a swear word. One of our boys just got 9 weeks for calling the other guy a "cat"🙄. The other one got 4 weeks for tackling too hard...🤣 Broke the other players rib from a hit up off the kickoff.

I don't think they're actually describing this as a brawl, it's the players running in that they're trying to stop, to try to stop escalation into brawls which have been getting out of hand in park footy. As I said, it is a fairly strict interpretation, and I don't really have a problem with it, if it's consistent. Run in, get banned for a week, tough luck.

If blokes want to punch on, they can always join a boxing or MMA gym with blokes who can fight and will be happy to accommodate them.

PS. That's not to say I'm sure this will work; IDK how much modelling, planning, and testing the NSWRL have done on this policy. It may have the opposite effect, ie. "Well, we've run in; we may as well go for it because we're not playing next week now anyway".
