2026 Season

If the goal is to finish 6th and have a home semi, I guess we need 14 wins based on last year. Winning both our home games gets us there. I really don't want us to rely on beating the wahs in NZ to get us that home final in week 1. I can see that game being ugly if we don't front up physically with our injuries. The way they beat the living daylights out of the riff was downright scary.

I doubt we make the top 4 even if we win all remaining games. Sharks have an easy run in. And 5th place Dolphins, have winnable games except the Roosters in Sydney and Manly in Manly. So we could sneak 5th.

Our last game in NZ, I’m paranoid we go there and get injuries. I hope the Wahs may rest some players?

Wow they have a some depth also. Metcalf had a great game yesterday.

If Penrith have lost Yeo for the season that brings them back to the pack a bit.

Funny to think the difference those 5 points over 3 games could have made on our season - it’s

Panthers 36 (20 games)
Roosters 34 (20 games - 2pts)
Warriors 34 (20 games)
Sharks 30 (19 games - 2pts)

We’d be 3rd on 34 points, with a game to play this round, and a bye to come.

Obviously, there’s been a few games we’ve come away with points that we probably shouldn’t have, so this isn’t intended to be too serious.

I guess, hopefully it gives the squad confidence that they aren’t that far off the top teams. A few goalkicks away from eyeing off a Minor Premiership battle with a Yeo-less Panthers and a penultimate round game against the Wahs.

Yeah we can say “what might have been” but we’re probably about where we should be. +60 for and against and we’re not out- or under-performing that in terms of actual wins. You would expect a 15-5 team to have a for & against of +150 at least. Will be easier to say we were unlucky not to make it if we can stack up more wins by 13+.

I reckon though if we win this weekend and Dolphins lose that will carry us on to 5th - and they might, Broncos might get up for them and they have some tough fixtures left, and I see the Phins as a team with the odd bludger of a performance in them - which is a pretty bloody great year relative to any reasonable expectations at the start of the season.

If we best Canberra, titans and manly I would be almost tempted to rest players for the wahs game seeing we then have a bye.

Imagine 2 weeks resting players how fresher they would be for the finals.
I thought the same thing myself. But also resting players for two weeks means they haven’t played for two weeks. So I’m torn on that one.

Giving guys like, Winter, Hunt, McCarthy a run, rest Ponga, Gags, Best, one of the wingers. Jones, Pasami (if available) play.
I think Jsaf should play.

More then happy to be on their bandwagon or the obvious warriors one if we don’t run into them in the finals.
Wasn’t even as mad about 2023 but they were never beating Panthers and Broncos, this year with home soil they’re as good chance as any

You would hate to lose guys in a meaningless game if it came to it but you still have to field 17-19 guys…I don’t want to rest guys for the sake of it but if they have played 20+ games not against it.

After watching how poor we were in our wins agains parramatta and the dragons after our byes i definatly wouldnt be giving anyone any extra time off, touch and go injuries aside.
