2026 Recruitment And Retention

We're missing a dominant and dynamic middle forward, we're at least one short.

We're short an edge backrower, but I feel like we can cover than rotationally, if not by promoting ESL or Manulelua

Could do with a hooker but again not as necessary as a gun middle forward.

It'll be depth in the forwards that largely determines our success next year. Our preferred 17 is worthy of the top 8 but whether that's realistic or not will come down to injuries and the progression of juniors like Hopwood.
Are you expecting McEwen to start on one edge?

I think we are just short a middle or two, I'd love one with experience and one with potential to round out our pack.
Hooker: I think we are sweet with Crossy, Sandon, Arthur & Graham - with them all having NRL experience I think adding another for depth in this one role is a waste.
Second Row: Lucas, Friz, Crokes, McEwen, ESL, Manuleleau, Jones & Cant - if we can find two suitable first grade back rows from that then there's something wrong, would be a waste of a roster spot to find another back row, plenty of talent in the few named.

Nearly everyone has gone back training I'd be offering both Elliott & Hetherington enticing train-and-trial contracts until they can secure either full time roles or they choose to stay on like Lodge did at Manly. NRL experienced middle players without contracts still include: Zane Muzgrove, Agnatius Paasi, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, options are thin but that's the reality we face

Thing is, even though its unproven, we have a good amount of props dont we?
Yes its not super exciting, if you want only proven players, but you can see how the recruitment went. Don't pay stupid $$ for one forward. Get a big batch of guys that are very close to debut or on minimal games, and the guys stuck behind the Canberra pack.
Im actually excited to see who stands up in the group and has a red hot crack. It could fall apart, but it could be the start of a young hot pack. Who knows.

This 100%, I still think if Elliot gets his injuries right he is a really good player.

Maybe because he is injury prone. Does he still make our 17 if he is fit? POS has not renewed him and Herthington for a reason. He thinks the new forward signings and young guys are better.

Hetherington to the Storm apparently, hopefully a good move for him career wise. Being part of that culture will surely improve him, have always seen him as a bit of a systems player.

He's a fullback predominantly by the look of things. Started a handful of games there and some on the wing for the Warriors Flegg team this year, but spent most of the time as 18th man.

He may like it here and convince the bro to join.
Get the family back together.
I like Santa he may sign here as well, like Wade may sign behind the current kiwi fullback.

So sick of the ole family will sign to play with family, when does that ever happen.
