2026 - 2027 Summer of Cricket

First time in history all 11 are 30 and older.

Drop Maddinson (35 in Dec, yuck) and Marnus (Green in) and find a young batter, don’t care who. Yes, it’s brash and there isn’t much but my god the next generation’s team is going to be horrendous when Lyon, Starc, Smith Hazlewood all retire at the same time (Hayden Langer Warne McGrath anyone?)

Sadly marnus is still one of the best in the country.. As a number 3 it would be nice for him to not be always at the crease inside the first 5 overs.
 
i want to see renshaw go back to where he belongs and open (i assumed it was going to be renshaw and head with maddison at 5). But id like to Get head back to 5, its test cricket we dont need an 80 ball hundred every half a dozen tests with nothing in between, in saying that id open with him and renshaw for the BGT at the start of next year like he normally does over there.
 
Yes swap Renshaw and Head and start looking for an opener and first drop to replace Maddison and Labs unless they suddenly become big scorers.
We need some new blood in the side to replace the almost pensioner brigade in batting and bowling.
The ideal is a 10:year career with a new blood each year, don’t want 10 or so players over 30+ and no new blood on the horizon

As far as the test side goes they arent going to be giving caps to anyone with an outlook to long term success, its all about wiinning the 3 biggest aways series in test cricket. They win all 3 series and this group will go down as one of the best if not the greatest Australian side ever.
Bowling stocks are quite good into the future but the current attack sits 2nd 4th 6th and 9th in all-time Australian test wicket takers and is still the most feared attack in world cricket, theyve earnt this last lap of the sun in this side and until an opposition actually puts them to the sword there is no need for change.
 
It was lovely to see Maddison play his natural game and score runs quickly.

SA need wickets quickly otherwise Australia will take total control of the game.
