Donoghoe is a proper gun, and considering he only shifted to the forwards two years ago he has plenty of improvement left in him.

Katoa rightfully gets the praise for the Dolphins attack but Donoghoe's ability to ball play at 13 has been crucial to giving Katoa extra time and space. Both Plath and Gilbert are quality but Donoghoe is so crucial to the Phins attack that I can't see them taking the 13 jersey back from him.

That's all just considering Donoghoe as an out and out lock - he's also probably got the best utility value in the league being able to play 1-6, 9, and 11-13.

He also supported the ball runner in one set, drew a player in and hit a Gidley flick back on the inside to set up an Eel but he wasnt good enough to get past the last ditch by Gray.

But that doesn’t fit the narrative I guess so no one mentions that.
 
POS will be judged on the Brown deal but there’s no point pre-judging based on performances at a club he’s leaving under a coach who reportedly doesn’t like him.

From what I’ve seen of Brown when dialled in playing games that matter, he’s a very good player, but I haven’t seen “this is the dominant #7 and you can plug a wide variety of player types around him”. I suspect there will be specific fit needs in his halves partner, which will be hard to address given Brown’s salary. I’m not sure Sharpe is who you want playing with him.

But I’ve been wrong so many times that just the fact I’m pessimistic about it makes me wonder if it actually will work 😆

No narrative. I like the player and probably wouldn't undo the signing despite the price. I'm just concerned by what I've seen this year and by the apparent plan to put a 7 on his back.

But this year has been a total outlier for the player for a bunch of legitimate reasons. I reckon he'll be good for us, I think the paycheck will force maximum effort from him and he's talented enough to make things work.

And I dont think the club will be asking anything of him that he isnt immediately capable of delivering.

Bit confused on when momentum is meant to stop in the Martin try, he has to make an extra attempt after stopping but because it came from the kick and its not a normal tackle. This happens a lot in those situations, but surely momentum stopped
 
This is a huge moment for Canberra. They’re not alone in this but the Penrith matchup has long been way worse for them than the Storm and Roosters. Struggling with them again today.

Held & held up are two different rule considerations. The laws of the game aren’t very clear on it because the wording of the held up rule is just “if the player is unable to ground the ball in the in goal”. So it’s an interpretation thing and the way it’s interpreted is that the player just gets a little bit of leeway to prove they are able to ground it. I would say calling that a try is fairly in line with how it’s usually adjudicated.

The Melbourne match up suits them well. Similarly, they always troubled the strong St George-Illawarra sides of the late noughties/early 2010s.
