People had that stigma about him being an older guy who didn't make it when he was younger, so he must have been bad but I reckon there was a brief period of time where he was up there with the best wingers in the game. Easy to forget now, but he was dynamite. Played 100 miles an hour too. If our team was better he probably wouldn't have got a shot in the first place, but I think once he did make it he proved he belonged.

I see that 2009 team with the talent and just think how much better the other teams had to be to get wins over them.
 
I remember a reserve grade game where Ross was up against a young rising star named Gutherson.
Ross ran right over the top of Gutherson 3 times for 3 tries - smashed the hell out of him all 3 times.
Rossy was so excited he was like a dog with 2 tails. Never seen a guy enjoy a game so much.
For years after that he'd randomly mention Gutho in interviews - sarcastically saying he aspired to be like him, and it sounded sincere, if you didn't know Gutho was favourite guy to smash.

Definitely want Jones to stay. Obviously i'm not across all the roster details, and it is easy from the sidelines saying keep someone, but he was great this year.
 
Saw Katoni Staggs having a few drinks at the Bennett Hotel last Friday night after Newcastle cup races, probably means sweet fa.

Yeh I remember him refferring himself to a poor man’s gutherson. Think it was the game against dragons where he got a hat trick at half time and they interviewed him walking off. Still can’t believe we went on to lose that game
 
Would be awesome to have Kevvie back in that type of role. Has had a wonderful career and experienced plenty to help kids along. Sione in this type of capacity would be massive for the club. Hope they pursue both options.

Also Jones is a MUST resign.

I would be really surprised if Jones will go anywhere. Just offer him an extension and he will stay. I see him getting even better next year.

And this is what it will take for the whole team, not just one player like Ross, to win a premiership. We are a fair number of players off that number, some just collecting the dollars, some not that committed or lazy, and some players without the skills, talent and attitude.
 
People at work were commenting on Leo signing with the Raiders???? Making sure I work with crazy people and none of you have heard or seen anything
 
Who knows. It’s just as likely to be his manager putting pressure on the Knights to up their offer and get something finalised before November, been publicly linked with half a dozen clubs at this point.
 
Just sort it out hey.

You wanna win a comp? You need a top tier middle. Leo + potentially a second Leo + Cody Hopwood could be that, and we seem to not be short on talented depth for a strong rotation.

You need elite spine talent - you don’t need all four players to be guns, depends how transcendent your best 2-3 spine players are, but you definitely need multiple elite players. We’ve got one in Kalyn, I think Pezet and Matt Arthur both have a very good chance to become that as well.

And then you need a few strike weapons playing outside those guys who can take advantage of the work of the key players. We have an elite one of those in Bradman and some fantastic emerging players like Lucas & Sharpe.

Add guys who’ll work their arses off and never concede an inch to that mixture and you’ve got a team which can win a comp.

It feels like we’re very close and very far away at the same time but I think keeping Leo is pretty essential.
