2024 Recruitment and Retention Thread - Rebuild 2: This Time It’ll Work For Sure (Unironically)

I’ve been team Tuala all year and not a fan of Greg’s. But the latter has been hitting his straps past two weeks and the upside of a solid Marz performance is way better than a solid Tuala performance.

Sharpe needs to be in the team. Could be be a 5/8…..? I don’t know enough about him, plus, I think this team misses Gamble.
It’s no secret I’m not the biggest Tuala fan but I think it’s the fact he gets zero service from Gagai. The ball will get passed, passed, passed and just as you think (one more please!) Gags tucks it under his arm and that’s that. Sometimes he will make something of it but most times he has to surrender while Tuala is left wide open.

I hope Schiller comes in and turns the heat right up in those two positions and makes one of them his own. Deserves better than he’s gotten since announcing his move at Canberra.

Yep. I’m thinking more how we fit Sharpe in the team for the rest of this year. Or does he go back to Cup. I don’t look at it as dropping Tuala, more who makes way for a bigger talent (assuming the 2024 roster was all fit).

I suppose being super optimist we are (long odds) chance to make it to the finals in all three grades, don’t think it is likely to happen, expect Flegg to make it but Cup and Firsts are a loss away from being done for the season

I just want to hear now that the Knights are on the hunt for some big signings while a few others take a hike. I don’t want to write off next year before it starts.
This won’t be happening unless we shift a lot of dead(or dying) wood off the books.
It has to be “in O’Sullivan we trust” atm.

I think we're making the 8. everyone gets a bit dramatic after a loss. Cows have the easiest draw with 2 byes, but we're not far off the 8 - but yes we definitely need to win this week.

Unfortunately some of the deadwood is under contract beyond 2024 & 2025.
24, Mapapalangi, Tuala. 25, Brailey Hastings, Hetherington, Jenkins,. 26, Cogger, DanS
Just to name a few

We certainly churn through players looking for the magic formula.

The thing is, Brailey was great for us, now we are practically shipping him off to superleague. Hastings was fine last season but now is derided on here as the worst 7 in the comp by some.

I've vented my frustrations with some of the plays I've seen from Hastings etc.

But, I worry that cycling through player talent looking for the answer is just going to bring more of the same.

We already have a generational talent at the club. We have some quality in the team and we need to be getting the best from what we have.

Still recruit well of course.

But just saying our players are not good, just isnt looking deep enough at the problems within this club.
