2022 Season

Knights announced Teitzel has signed on for this season. Hope she goes better at centre
I think it's a good signing for that reason. A lot to work on to be a fullback, but at centre she should go great. She's big and strong, just run the ball hard out wide.

Between the talk and confirmed signings, the core of our side is shaping well.

1. Tamika Upton
2.
3. Romy Teitzel
4. Bobbi Law*
5.
6. Kirra Dibb*
7. Jesse Southwell
8. Millie Boyle
9. Olivia Higgins
10. Caitlan Johnston
11. Yasmin Clydsdale
12.
13. Hannah Southwell

14.
15. Tayla Predebon
16. Simone Karpani
17.

* Not confirmed but rumoured.

Article says Hannah Southwell is about to sign for the NRLW season.
She is as big a signing as Boyle and Upton, although the way I read the salary cap rules, we can only pay two players Marquee money, so she'll be on much less pay.
I feel she could get a Marquee contract somewhere else if she wanted to.

She possibly could but if you think of the players out there and only being able to have 12 marquee players in the whole NRLW;
- Millie Boyle.
- Tamika Upton.
- Ali Brigginshaw.
- Jesse Sergis.
- Kezie Apps.
- Maddie Studdon.
- Isabelle Kelly.

Theres 7 off the top of my head and not being a massive follower of any other NRLW team other than Knights. Hannah is only 23, I'm sure her marquee days are going to come. Its a great signing for our struggling side.

Knights announce signings of Yasmin Clydsdale (formerly Meakes), Olivia Higgins, Simone Karpani & Taylor Predebon

Article on Hanna Southwell in the Herald says the next NRLW series will start about the same time as the NRL finals.
Very unlikely we'll manage to make the finals in the men's, so the girls will pretty much have the facilities and the fan base to themselves in September.

The article also says Hanna Southwell played soccer for Australia at under 17s and under 20s levels and Rugby Union 7s at Olympic level.
Given that her sister is a very good playmaker, and Hanna must have very good kicking skills and game awareness (you don't play soccer for Australia without having advanced kicking skills and game awareness), you'd think her role for the Roosters as a hard running lock is a really poor use of her potential.
I'd have the Southwell sisters training at 7 and 6. Jesse reads the game like a quality mens halfback - no reason Hanna wouldn't as well.

I'd like to see them at 6 and 7 , young Jesse is a talent .
I'm looking forward to watching the womens game we have put together a very talented side so far .

Tamika Upton’s Capras vs Romy Teitzel’s Gold Stars in the QLD women’s GF today at 2:10 on Kayo. Upton playing fullback, Teitzel captaining and playing second-row which could be her new position here.

Gold Stars scored on the siren to win 14-12

Upton created a handful of line breaks out of thin air, both running and passing, and set up a try. Made a couple of errors in the first half. Looks like she’s been fired out of a cannon every time she runs.

Teitzel set up the opening try with a nice cutout pass but was otherwise quiet in the first half. Stronger in the 2nd. Reckon she’ll do a good job just running hard on the edge this season either at centre or second-row.

Emma Manzelmann was best on ground in the first half. If we can get her to come back and play off the bench behind Higgins that would be great but I think she's good enough to be a starting 9 in the NRLW.

Cowgirls just proving they deserve a team and won’t be easy push overs when they enter. Lots of North Queenslanders running around in the NRLW while they get have a side.

Others that didn’t play in that game. They will win at least one game in their debut season that’s for sure.

Knights announce re-signings of Bobbi Law, Emma Manzelmann, Kyra Simon, Autumn-Rain Stephens-Daly & Kirra Dibb

All strong signings. Stoked about Dibb.

Getting Manzelmann and Dibb as well as the Southwell sisters, Higgins and Upton gives us quite a spine.

1 Upton
6 Dibb/Hanna Southwell
7 Jesse Southwell
9 Olivia Higgins
13 Hanna Southwell/Dibb
14 Manzelmann

1. Tamika Upton
2. Autumn-Rain Stephens-Daly
3. Romy Teitzel
4. Bobbi Law
5. -
6. Kirra Dibb
7. Jesse Southwell*
8. Caitlan Johnston
9. Olivia Higgins
10. Millie Boyle
11. Yasmin Clydsdale
12.
13. Hannah Southwell

14. Emma Manzelmann
15. Taylor Predebon
16. Kyra Simon
17. Simone Karpani

All the confirmed signings so far. J. Southwell needs an exemption but will probably get it. Teitzel or Dibb could play 12 instead

I was hopeful that we'd re-sign Manzelmann and Dibb, but for whatever reason thought they might have been falling out of favour. But they are huge signings to go along with the new recruits. Dibb was the most natural looking half we had and Manzelmann looked dangerous everytime she got involved.

Neta Nu’uausala has signed with the Broncos, the first confirmed loss from last season's squad. She was one of the better forwards we had but in what is essentially a straight swap for Millie Boyle I think we did alright.

Still unsigned: Ngatokotoru Arakua, Phoebe Desmond, Rangimarie Edwards-Bruce, Shannon Evans, Maitua Feterika, Jayme Fressard, Chantelle Graham, Katie Green, Georgia Page, Paige Parker, Charntay Poko, Krystal Rota, Charlotte Scanlan, Tahlulah Tillett, Katelyn Vaha'akolo, Kararaina Wira-Kohu.
