2022 Knights Recruitment & Retention Thread

surely we are looking at a half for next season, we chased brooks and settled on clune who was always brought in to be a depth player. pearce left a 900k hole and pongas "upgrade" isnt huge. we may have the funds to atleast get to the table with munster?

also just read on tooheys twitter that one of the english lads we were looking at just started following him.

Will Pryce follows him.
 
He looks talented but I don’t think it’s the worst thing if we miss him. Dude is yet to score a try in 19 Super League games, which doesn’t make him sound like the “next Sonny Bill” to me.

Already have enough young emerging forwards making mistakes for my money.

Not so sure about that especially after Gardiner said that Ponga agree's that they have the right structures the right players and the right coach in place at the Knights , or something close to that as i dont remember word for word .

Every club in the comp would say that brother. The important thing now that Ponga's future is sorted, we need to start recruiting for a real charge at a premiership. That's the goal, Ponga is on board, we need to surround him with the highest quality we can get.
 
The fact that AOB has made the top 8 two years in a row shows that he offers something as a head coach. Just need to be patient for the next level, every other coach on the market is either washed up or a rookie no namer. Don't know why everyone so keen to get a new one
 
Very good news. If he keep developing that off load and ball playing he’ll be a huge asset to the team, something our forwards seem to lack is natural second phase creators.

Just listened to the Knights podcast with him and B Jones. Very well spoken lad.
 
Great news for Croker and well deserved.

Interesting to see what happens with Momoisea, Saulo and Sue.
Croker and Leo are both signed and have played better to start the season.
But we still need depth, so who knows.

The one game of reserves I watched Saulo easily outplayed Sue.
 
dont think saulo will be resigned, he was privately shopped last year with only the cows showing a little interest and wasnt keen on moving his young family when he still had a yr to run here.
 
Crokes will only be a good squad member for a reasonable price.
But on the plus side, in reserves he scores a try every 4 games or so, gets a reasonable number of try assists with his good offloads and puts his hand up to work hard when the going gets tuff.
I expect him to be a good contributor most games without standing out.
 
tigers apparently looking at getting jack bird, i wonder if that means we are still pursueing brookes, only way i could see the tigers making a play for bird is to have him free up some cap space for them and as everyone knows brookes is on big money. they may be thinking they can get it done for cheaper with hastings/bird and douehi.
 
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Brooks ends up with us. I won’t be happy, but it won’t surprise lol. Joey is in the ear of the recruitment guys big time and he likes him.
