Yep, I couldn't see him leaving the success of the Storm system and come to Newcastle for an extra 200k and some other team will offer him more than that anyway.

Barnett has been one of our better players for a number of years and won a few danny buderus medals along the way. Its a shame that his actions in the Panthers game have triggered our downward spiral.

Hopefully he can get back, finish the year off strongly for us and go out on a high playing some finals footy. If we can secure a decent specialised back rower to replace him, it might work out best for all parties.
 
We must have at least a million left over? Only speculating, apparently Storm want to downgrade munster to 800k, which if I was him is quite insulting, especially if others are on more, maybe the exception of Grant. Dolphins will surely throw 1.2 at him.

750k is what the storm offered, absolutely an insult....he should come to us, surely we have enough in the cap.

Significant loss for the club imo. He is a quality forward. Not impossible to replace by next year. But certainly unlikely we'll poach someone as generally capable and committed for the amount we were paying him.

A big loss for the club given where we are this season so far.
 
Keen to see how he goes. Not sure if others feel this way but I’d be open to holding onto him beyond this year if he fits in well. I know him going to play for The next year is considered a formality but stranger things have happened. A lot of guys who come to play for us seem very happy to be a part of this playing group.

If he can back to close to his best from from the Raiders and early days at the Broncos then definately, he would be one of our best players. The whole thing is a bit weird with the Dolphins wanting to sign him but wanting him to play games this year.

Who knows how long it is before they are trying to sign him up, might not get much opportunity to see how he goes.

Think it's long odds given his relationship with Bennett, but the idea of a 2023 spine of (1. Milford 6. Ponga 7. Clifford 9. Brailey) gets me feeling a certain way

Have to expect that Milf is already gone. Conditional to him acting with some professionalism while he is with us, at least until he gets signed by the Dolphins
