He tore us apart. Commentators were going on about Dan Saifiti with his metres inflated by a 60m line break, Pat did 170m in 27 minutes. Shame he never showed that sort of form here.

Newcastle Knights star Dane Gagai on his future: “I love Newcastle. It’s a beautiful place”

DANE Gagai has given the strongest possible indication of where his future lies beyond the end of this season with the off contract Knights centre declaring: “I love Newcastle. It’s a beautiful place and the team is heading in the right direction”.

The Queensland Origin star has an option in his favour for another year in Newcastle that expires on June 30 but has been testing the market elsewhere to see what his value is with the likes of St George Illawarra, Sydney Roosters and Cronulla among the clubs to have expressed interest.

But unless a rival blows the Knights out the water with a massive offer, it is highly unlikely Gagai will leave.

It is understood the Sharks have already baulked at his asking price while the Dragons interest is purely based on insurance in case Josh Dugan departs.

Gagai admitted he is in no hurry to settle his future, claiming he has left it in the hands of his manager.

“My manager is dealing with all that,” Gagai said.

“My concerns for next year I guess are irrelevant at this time.

“I’m just worried about trying to get as many wins as I can under the belt. My biggest concern is making that top eight. I’m still here for the rest of this year and I’m going to put everything into it.”

Pressed on whether he is keen to remain at the Knights, Gagai said:

“Yeah, definitely. Obviously, the last couple of years were tough but seeing the direction this club is going in, it’s obviously well ahead of where we were at last year.

“We have only got the one win but we have been right on the edge and not too far off and a credit to what Browny (coach Nathan Brown) has been doing and what Moons (football manager Darren Mooney) has done and what all the staff have done at the club and on the back of that, how hard the boys have been working and how hard they have put in.

“I’m definitely enjoying it here. You have got to enjoy where you are at. If you don’t enjoy it, there is not any real point in staying.”

Tolman 203m 38tks tonight vs canberra!! What a ploddler lol
nah man, hes not a game winner!

him being our best prop by 20 lengths isn't enough for some haha!

if we can get him, Vete, Kasiano, SDK, watson to add to Ponga i give us some chance next year.

still need to offer ryan hoffman a 1yr deal with a yr option if he wants it.

also watching NSW cup at the moment we could do worse then offering Mitch Cornish a contract asap, I'm sure he'd be able to get a release. He's much better then Feeney and would take pressure off of lamb who is struggling mightily

Did u watch the whole cup game?

How did u rate Paea? Pauli? Hodko? Mataora?
I personally thought our middle was very average.

Woods to Dogs.

Setting up another showdown for talent we can lose as the tigers will be looking for a prop now. Graham to Tigers maybe?

Graham is good mates with Reynolds. Tiger's fan's have been talking up their chances of him following his mate to the Tigers.

Tolman is 100% the pefect lock player,
Can go the 80mins with the tough runs and the cover tackles included.

His never been given thecredit he deserves in that bulldogs teamdue to the media loving Graham/klemmer/Pritchard/klemmer.

Go watch any game of the past 5yrs and only watch Tolman, the guys is everywhere

That ploddlers stats over 5yrs is the best of sny forward in the dogs team.

So Tigers have signed

McQueen
Big Ben
Reynolds
MWZ

And they're not finished apparently linked to Paasi, Milne, Holland, Guerra, Lolohea etc

No marquee players there but some solid upgrades in their squad and also ours .....

The Cleary rebuild is in motion whilst we're still waiting for the right player. I can u derstand what Brown and Mooney are doing I just hope it works out ......

I'm fully supportive of Brown & Mooney chasing big names but I hope it doesn't mean we're ignoring the smaller names in the meantime. A lot of those guys are in the cheap with potential mould that we should be looking for to fill out the squad. I'm sure they'd be making inquiries here & there, whether we're actually officially chasing any until all the big names dry up is the question.

Up to this point I think they have been ignoring them, every player we've been linked too have been high profile guys apart from maybe Prior .....

and they payed McQueen 1.2mil, Matalino 700k, Reynolds 700k, MWZ no idea, But my point is are they all worth that? Kind of glad we didnt pay that much for them tbh
