Turdburg is from a Club that constantly grossly cheated and encouraged to do so by Uncle Rupe á lá Storm, Broncs and other Clubs involved in the old man's 'vision'. Why would he suddenly want to enforce rules and guidelines?

The club can introduce players and their managers to prospective TPA providers.

I know this was mentioned in the TPA review that was done, but is it in the actual rules?

Either way, TPA's regardless of is a club is allowed to introduce them or not, are not to be used as player payments, or to entice a player to sign.

We all know clubs use TPA's primarily to pay players off the cap.

It's cheating.

Who says which TPAs are rorts and which are legit? If it were easy to police they NRL would be all over it.

Andrew Gee can get caught with his hand in the cookie jar and nothing comes of it. I'm not sure how the NRL are going to prove Jack Bird getting $300k a year to flog units off the plan or whatever is a scam? Jarryd Hayne is getting $300k a year from a travel agent for god knows what, why is that not legit? The Titans are owned by the NRL too.

So, what became of the millions in TPAs Brian McGuigan said were lined up for this year?

Yes its in the nrl rules guidelines!!

Honestly though, if we could walk on that same road as the broncos/storm/roosters/cowboys/bulldogs and whoever else we want to complain about would we care about how we are getting the tpa and players here??
Farrrrrrrrk no we wouldnt.
So imo its a waste of time whining about it as the day we get on our own 2 feet and start strutting down the road u wont give a toss on how we are doing so.

The problem is it's not the Broncos or the Roosters or the Dogs who get caught it's the eels and clubs like us that are not as good at covering up that rorting that do get caught and the last thing we need is in a few years time to get docked points and have to release players. TPA's are a joke and need to go the players are already earning to much particularly those players who are elite players in their position.

Nah, you may not and that's fine. But it's still cheating regardless if we are doing it an getting away with it or not. We will just join the clubs that the sports supporters laugh about shady deals being done to get a player there.

I guess that is better than being the laughing stock of the league for winning 1 game a season.

But if we start cheating the cap with shady TPA deals, it's not a stretch to imagine we could get caught for it like Parra, Melbourne etc, and further taint the club. So we will be known as the club with the drug culture, who were rabble but started cheating to get better!

I guess I care more about the club than just putting a win on the scoreboard!

You won't have a club to care about if we can't find a way to win.
Anyway,

Yes, the source is not exactly reliable lol.

But reported Gags getting offered $750k per year. If that's the case then wow. Can't say he is worth that amount personally. Anyway, Gags may be going after all, if the above has a shred of truth.
If Brown can't keep Gagai then questions really need to be asked. He's very close to Brown, has been a great clubman up until this point - it would be horrible optics for the club to lose him while talking up chasing rep talent. We already can't get good players here, imagine our only rep player walking out on top of the already terrible stink around us. Gags manager knows all of this of course, so is in a pretty good position to milk us hard. I get the feeling if any player is going to milk us and get away with it at the moment, it's Gagai. It would take nerves of steel for Brown and Mooney to not match any offer, and may well be career suicide for Brown at least they don't.

Long story short, if Brown can't even keep Gagai at the club... then do we need to look at a coach switch that could actually attract some players? How many years does he get? It's one thing to say 5 year plan, but we're not moving forward with those years at all if there's no-one coming in.

We can't lose Gagai and if that means paying overs we have to do that. His a leader at this club our highest profile player and the guy who was only last week backing Brown and his plan in the paper. The message to other players would be disastrous too we drop(rightfully) our captain to reserve grade and than a few weeks latter our only rep player moves on.

Right so say we got 1.5mil in tpa and then get busted for breach of the rules... thats the rules fault?
Wouldnt be the dipsticks that made the breach i guess! :brickwall:

Can't blame him if he goes to Melbourne. In saying that they may be in rebuild soonish. Being coached by Bellamy is tempting.

Are you referring to what happened to Parra? I agree we should be using TPA's but let's not pretend the top clubs are not using them illegally or not be realistic about if we did it we would get ****ed over for doing so, just look at the 100k fine we got for HIA violations yet the bulldogs, raiders and Broncos did they same thing last week and none of them got fined.

The media got us those fines, also the clubs fined are all nrl funded so it was the nrl fining the nrl.

The nrl fining themselves was silly but until we are no longer NRL operated we won't be able to abuse the TPA system just like we get dine for abusing the HIA system. Hopefully if Wests take us over they will bring some useful connections in that department, third parties were a big part of tinklers pitch. To be fair to the current administration the club is only just establishing sustainable business practices after staving off bankruptcy for the last 30 years once we become a more sustainable club TPA's and recruitment will become easier, our reputation is also still recovering from the tinkler years and our inability to perform is hardly attracting TPA's either.

In his latest 'memo' to members Midley states we are only pursuing players at a 'fair price'. Quote 'we will not panic and recruit players we fell are over priced'.

Maybe Gags is considered over priced at the $750,000 others are reported ton be offering. I am surprised Benny is not sniffing around with former Football Manager Mr. Gee carrying a briefcase as the Broncs seem so short of talent!

Seriously Kurriboy do think the Eels, Doggies, Storm and Broncos who were caught three years ago with Andrew Gee's hand in the till to the tune of $400,000 have a negative image or even care about the penalties or adverse publicity?

Like all sports the world is about winning and winning today. Each of those teams are the darlings of the media whilst we are the laughing stock. Kill all TPAs stone dead and stop the cheating.

No, I don't think Melbourne storm themselves care about the cheating, or the dogs, eels etc. But I am thinking their fans do. No doubt it stings the heart whenever they are teased about their clubs cap cheating.

TPA's themselves are fine, clubs using them to get players on the cap cheaper isn't. I don't think anything will come of it, but I hope the NRL do take some action towards registering players for their correct cap value.

But they won't, as they accept players will play for less to play at certain clubs, I just can't see them making any significant changes.

Sportingnews are joke of a source but I think they just took the source from The Herald.

DANE Gagai loves Newcastle – and the Knights – but for how long remains to be seen.

The 26-year-old centre has a contract option in his favour for next season, which effectively makes him a free agent.

The Dragons, Storm, Sharks and Roosters are reported to have offered the Queensland Origin winger up to $750,000 a season.

If the Knights can’t – or won’t – match the market with a multi-year deal, Gagai, who has a young family, may be lured elsewhere.

Gagai’s manager Steve Gillis has been in contact with Knights officials but indicated there is “no need to rush”.

Shaun Johnson was the latest star to confirm his future on Friday, inking a two-year extension at the Warriors.

Gagai is the best centre on the market and Knights coach Nathan Brown conceded this week that “weight of money can get anyone”.

“My manager is dealing with all that,” Gagai said. “All I am worried about is what I am doing here now. This is where I am at, and this is where all my focus is at. That is why we have managers to take care off all that stuff. I love Newcastle and I am here for the rest of this year and am going to put everything into it. I want to make finals.”

Although admitting the past two seasons “have been tough” Gagai, whose only experience in the finals has been at the Knights under Wayne Bennett in 2013, is confident the club is on the rise.

“We are obviously well ahead of where we were at last year,” he said. “We have only got the one win, but we have been right on the edge and are not too far off. I am definitely enjoying it. If you don’t enjoy where you are at, there is not really any point staying.

“I love Newcastle, it is a beautiful place, and the team is heading in the right direction. Like I said, they will sort that out.”

Gagai’s immediate priority is beating a plucky Gold Coast at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday.

The Knights powered home to beat the Titans 34-26 in round two – their only win of the campaign.

They have been in the majority of matches, the most recent a 24-12 defeat to the Cowboys which they led 12-10 at half-time.

“We are competing hard and the boys efforts are out there to see,” Gagai said. “It comes back to that bit of game management: getting our kicks right, not giving away penalties in their yardage and not dropping the ball in good-ball sets. We have been working hard on that. Everyone knows their jobs and their roles, we just have to be able to execute.”

The Knights conceded two second-half tries against the Cowboys, which came on the back of a series of errors.

But Gagai believes the issue is starting games well not closing them out.

Who says its cheating?? No seriously give me one fact of the tpa where its cheating!

That doesnt mean pinpoint clubs that have been pulled up for breaching the rules of the tpa guidelines.

To just generalize the whole process of tpa is only ur opinion and views... none of it is fact in anyway.

Fyi the fans of successful clubs could not care less of the opinion of a fan crying over the fact there own club is inadequate at running a corporate business to the point of being a success in there field.
