People shouldn't worry about the figure, with the position we've been in the last 2-3 year we have no option but to spend more than other clubs for talent. But in saying that, 800k and now 900k have both been thrown around so the media are hardly a credible source with their assumptions.

Graham, Bird and Ponga would be much better than I hoped for.
One, youngish, rep standard forward and we are done if we do actually get Graham and Bird.
The rest can come from improvements in our current squad and a few juniors stepping up next year.
I agree with this but honestly I think after this year that will be Daniel Saifiti and possibly Jacob

'He's basically getting Mullo's money as adjusted for the new salary cap.
I think our playmaking coaches can teach him enough kicking skills to hold his own, but we still need the halfback to do the bulk of the playmaking.

Here's the link from the thread about it at the time: http://www.marathonstadium.com/threads/andrew-johns-sacked-from-knights-in-2011.8939/

No mention of him offering to do it for free, so looks like you were right and I was wrong sorry @R_A ... unless that was a later development (but I would have thought it would still be in that thread).

My comment about us expecting it for free was a bit in jest I must admit cause it sounded like something that adminstration would say at the time. Never forget the time and preparation the guy takes into doing the said job assuming he doesn't just live down the road.

""Joey asked for an increase which we were finding hard to justify within our football budget, but I was under the impression negotiations were on-going," Burraston said.

"We had a meeting during the week and were looking at asking him what he would charge us per session and taking it from there.

"I can assure you we didn't want to cut him off.""

I would never personally expect anyone that isn't in some form of a volunteer here not to be paid for their time, otherwise I'd feel they wouldn't be as dedicated to the task at hand...

I remember him saying he would coach our halves for 1/2 his usual price and Burraston all but told him to xxxx off and that he should do it for free ...

Hah I just quoted that above^

I was trying to find on Youtube the Simpsons episode (cant remember exactly) but it's where Homer needs some form of surgery and is in Dr Hibbert's office and Dr Hibbert writes on a card the price he charges. Homer then sees it and writes on the other side and hands it back to Dr Hibbert. On the other side it reads "Do it for free", Dr Hibbert just tells Homer to get out lol.

Kind of sounds like the negotiations between Joey and Burraston...

Toohey said re-signing Brown is on the agenda, likely after we sort the ownership out.

Yikes! I hope that isn't waiting a while.
Tbh the talks of his job security pressure were a bit fair game IF there weren't results but we've already shown results so far. We are already certainly better then this time last year but really did fall off after April and May apart from being competitive against a bad Tigers team and an Eels team under scrutiny.

Last year after 5 rounds
0-4-1, F: 74, A: 160, -86

This year after 5 rounds
1-4, F: 92, A: 135, -43

Which isn't too bad considering those 40 points were from the one blowout against Penrith.

Im hoping the boys pick up a few more wins against teams who play badly against us and lose as opposed to last year where they could get away with it and it's enough for Brownie to hold onto his job.
