2017/2018 Knights Player signing speculation

From Fox Sports

Don’t expect the Knights to go on a wild spending spree anytime soon.

While the Knights could start the season $1 million under the salary cap as a result of Jarrod Mullen’s positive test to anabolic steroids, the club is in no rush to splurge in the player market.

They also have an additional $260,000 to play with following the departure of Korbin Sims.

Meanwhile the Knights have also ceased any interest in Valentine Holmes.

While they have the cash to make a serious play for the Cronulla star, they bowed out of the race for Holmes when they snared Kalyn Ponga’s signature last year.

I wouldn't quote crap that Nathan Ryan writes as gospel though, not really a credible source

So who comes into our squad of 25 to replace Korbin and Mullen?

I don't think it necessarily means we won't buy anyone at all to come in. No big spending spree until 2018, obviously because that's when all the stars come off-contract. In the mean time I expect us to pick up 1 cheap Grevsmuhl type player just to shore up the squad a bit.

I reckon we will pick up at least two forwards mid year they're just holding out for some out of favour players

Yeah my point is don't at all times you have to have a squad of 25 for the year? We have 1 player effectively sacked and another that walked out.

Correct mate,

The nrl provide each club with a salary cap and are to have 25 registered nrl players by the time the season starts... not sure what the fine would be as no team has run with less players

Folks keep talking about all this extra money we will have. First pay day 1 November, and Korbs, Mullo and Pauli have a;ready received 25% of their annual salary and we will keep paying Pauli of course. I just hope we are not paying Benny's brown paper bag kings part of Korbs salary for releasing him.

Does anyone know or are there any whispers about it in Newie?

From all reports Brown refused to contribute a cent. And Korbin's contract is 100% the responsibility of the Broncos

luv-er-lee thanks Kenny. Don't you feel for poor ole Benny and wasn't he lucky with no evidence offered on James Roberts again? Another paper bag?

When your luck as a football club is correlated with your wealth as a football club, I become immediately skeptical about your luck
