2014 All Stars Match - To be or not to be?

Would you guys like to see a 2014 All Stars match? After watching this years match my answer would be a definite no. The Indigenous All Stars show some of the greatest passion for the game that I have seen, whereas the NRL All Stars seem to have no passion whatsoever, shown by the five drop outs from this years match, with two of those drop-outs playing in matches the day preceding the match. I would much rather see an Indigenous Australia v NZ Maori match, as both squads would have an immense passion for the match, which would result in a much more entertaining bout. What are you guys' thoughts?

They really need an idea to brighten the All Stars back up, its just not what it used to be the first year it started up. Its lost all its passion and means nothing to who makes it to the All Stars teams almost, as a result, a lot of people pulling out.

I think and Indigenous Australians vs Pacific Islanders match is on the cards, with something like captains of each nation gets an auto-select into the team, or anther rule that will make this match interesting...

I don't think the NRL All Stars take it quite as serious but it's not like they sit back and don't try to win. They won in 2011 and 2012 and it's exciting seeing players from all the clubs including some of the best in the world from all different nations playing together for one-off games. If it was just Maori players in a team it'd be pretty much the NZ team which is boring, we see that several times a year. And then it'll probably be considered racist that no white people are allowed to play, why do the black players get their own game? This way players from all backgrounds get to play and join in in the community charities and celebration. It should be left the way it is. Only it should be moved back to the Gold Coast!!

This year it sure looked like they sat back and didn't try to win, and at the rate it's going, it'll only get worse.

Maybe the ACTUAL Fiji squad including Hayne and Uate etc VS Indigenous...
Or Aus Vs the rest (no insult)
Indigenous Vs P. Islanders.?

I like Australia v the World, be amazing to watch. I would salivate over a NRL 17 v Super League 17. There are multiple problems such as co-operation from Super League, NRL, players etc. Very unlikely, but I'd love it.

Would wanna see the Australian squad minus the indigenous squad VS another team consisting of the Indigenous squad + more...
Like an Aus VS The World (consisting of English, P. Islanders, Indigenous, etc...)

Setting up. For disaster if you include our indigenous in the world team lol. Won't go down real smooth.

The whole point of this game is to raise awareness and charity for indigenous communities so the indigenous team should stay the same, and what better opposition to attract the fans and media attention than players from all across the NRL and world? You have English, NZ, Islander and Australian players all in the same team. If that's not enough excitement then I don't know what is. If it's just Indigenous v Maoris/Islanders I'd bet anything it'd receive half the popularity as it does now. It'd be boring as hell for most people.

What about maybe a 9s match between 3 teams?

- Indigenous All Stars
- Pacific Islander All Stars (New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Cook Islands, PNG)
- International All Stars (Dont know any other names  )

Simply teams picked from the 9s Tournament played in Summer? Pacific Islander team can not select 3+ from one island

First Quarter: Team 1 vs. Team 2
Second Quarter: Team 2 vs. Team 3
Third Quarter: Team 1 vs. Team 3

Would be much more exciting then a normal match and really show the skills of players?

Seems fine how it is, it got its biggest crowd ever this year, and a huge tv audience.

Leave it how it is. Us black fellas wait all year for this game and cherish every minute of it

That's exactly my point, the indigenous team loves the game whereas the NRL All Stars couldn't care less and in my view that makes it less entertaining. I still think the Indigenous All Stars should play, but against a team that actually gives a damn.

I'd like to see you say it to some of the NRL All Stars players faces that they couldn't care less ... what a silly statement!!!

When it first started I thought it would be better if they played a side like NZ Maori, but in hindsight that would make it a much smaller and less popular event ... It goes great as it is and get huge ratings - it's something in league that is actually working, why would you change it?!

Are you kidding? I don't know what gave you the illusion that the NRL All Stars care, in any way close to the Indigenous All Stars. Billy Slater and Anthony Watmough. Both pull out of the match, but play in trial games preceding and occurring after the match. It's good for the ratings and the NRL management. But for fans who want to see a competitive game, an actual NRL all stars team, and a team that cares, it's crap.

Both wouldn't have made it through a proper game like the All Stars clash and only played minimal minutes in their trial. Nothing to do with anything. Andrew Johns once played a club game the same weekend as an Origin, but pulled out of the Origin because he wouldn't be at a high enough standard - exactly the same thing.

Not to mention you do actually have to train with your rep side in order to know the plays - not necessary at club level.

Look at Gallen's efforts to play this year and what he said it meant to him.

There seems to be a simple solution for you - if you don't like it then don't watch it! You'll be in the minority, though.

The all stars is so much more than just a footy match. It does so much good for the indigenous community in Australia and in my opinion is a good thing....I believe both teams care about the All stars clash if the NRL all stars didn't care they wouldn't have put in the effort to win back to back titles in 2011 and 2012 just because a few players who are carrying injuries pull out doesn't mean they don't care.....
