Anyone got any background info on some of the players above. A few familiar names, but some new ones also.

Also Tetevano, Matautia still eligible for NYC?

Is there anyone I have missed on the list?

Both Mata'utia & Tetevano turn 21 in November 2011, so i'm not sure if their eligible until November or ruled out for the whole year.

Go Brendon Simpson... hope he does well. I remember seeing him walking around school only a few years ago.

Tye Alchin - prop from SG Ball - grandson of 'Mad Mick' Alchin - the most suspended player in RL history
Kori Barber - big chunky lock or prop from SG Ball
Dale Clacherty - centre from Ball
Nathan Clarke - winger from Balmain SG Ball
Geordie Connelly - 5/8, half or fullback from Ball
James Coote - forward from Manly SG Ball
Royce Geoffrey - forward from SG Ball
Matt Herman - played all last season in the second row or centre - son of former Knight Tony Herman
Matt Ireland - Newcastle boy who played under 18s for country this year
Chris Knight - hooker - best dummy half i've seen in the juniors, but couldn't tackle a plate of chips
Kennedy Lauti - made australian under 16s in 2007
David Longhurst - qld prop who played SG Ball for us last year
Rodney Mason - one of our best i think
Chanel Mata'utia - winger
Mitch McMahon - big second row from qld with big wraps who was injured most of last year
Maipele Morseau - best schoolboy in australia in 2009 - played fullback and halfback for Melbourne NYC last year
Aiona Noa - Nona is his name - that's a misprint - played for St Brendan's Yeppoon with Morseu and Kurt Mann (our big signing in Ball this year)
Api Pewhairangi - my tip for star of the side - 5/8
Edan Price - winger from Ball i think
Kirran Shearer - giant prop who got pretty fit and was starting for the Centurions by the end of last season after starting the year like a blimp. He played in NYC in 2009 before he blew up
Brendon Simpson - second row who had a lot of games for the Centurions last year - was out of his depth for the Centurions
Korbin Sims - big signing from Brisbane - people are saying he will be the best of the Sims brothers
Will Smith - i'd put him back into halfback, but he will probably play centre
Alai Taufa'ao - played bench hooker for Tonga against Samoa - more a halfback i reckon
Jarrod Tua - winger from NZ - played some NYC and some Centurions last year
Dale Verstappen - second row from sg ball i think
Mitch Williams - regular NYC centre and winger this year

I think he'd more more suited in a Penrith jersey... if ya know what I mean

is this the official squad or are we still trialling some blokes?

if the door is still open I'd like to see Savin, Ma'a and Taufaao (Felise) given a go at this level...if you're good enough you're old enough...

ps did we keep Kinlyside at all?

Some head shots have gone up on the photographers site - but it's only partial - no Cook, Ailoami, Redman, Sullivan, Means etc - but i think they have all the new faces covered by the looks.
Savin, Felise, Ma'a, Pat Mata'utia etc will probably play SG Ball and get a run if they are good enough - although I have a sneaking suspicion that Ma'a will take a year off to do his HSC, because apart from being a big, scarey monster - he is also smart enough to go to Merewether High (selective high).

We are in for an interesting year.

Maipele Morseau is supposed to be one of the most exciting fullback prospects going around, and Kurt Mann was his understudy at Yeppoon and is supposed to be nearly as good.

Wing looks a bit thin - but Mitch Williams and the Mata'utia brothers are quality players.

Centres in Will Smith, Herman and Clacherty are all quality.

The halves have Roberts who should be ready to shine this year, and I'd go for Api at 5/8, who was one of our best in the last few rounds last year, and is a big 5/8 with plenty of skills.

The backrow of Cook, Korbin Sims, Nathan Clarke and maybe Herman, Means and Mason should be the best in the comp.

Props look a bit thin after Ailoami, but Simpson, Mason, Shearer, Kennedy Lauti, Mitch mcMahon etc could all do the job.

Hooker looks strong with Chad Redman being the first choice hooker on the Australian schoolboys tour just completed, so he should improve, Taufaoo playing for Tonga recently, and Chris Knight hopefully growing a bit so he can defend well enough for NYC.

All in all, it would be nice to have one more class winger and one more quality prop - but i think it's our best side since 2006.

I know Geordie Conelly, lives near me, used to go to my school and played for my old club. Always one of the better up and comers from the area for League. I would love to see him get first crack at the 6 jumper, he is extremely talented and big aswell.

We say the same thing each year though, and perform terribly at times.

It's encouraging that our players coming through are from teams of SG Ball/Harold Matts that have finished in the top 8.

The fact that he is pretty good in a number of positions might mean he gets a run, but he has a lot of competition for a spot.

I got Coote and Clarke the wrong way around. Coote is a winger.

Nathan Clarke is a second rower from Manly who has played some NYC for the past two years and still has two years to go. I've not seen him play, but it sounds encouraging.

Kinlyside went back to Queensland after hurting his neck last year (similar to Marlborough's injury I think). Spent a year recovering from the injury and doing his own training. He then came back for pre-season but only lasted two weeks before he injured his neck again in training. Will never play rugby league again. Very sad because he is extremely talented and would of filled our other front row spot easily
