2011 ANZAC Day Test Thread

Sheens would have to be the most retarded representitive coach in history!

Morris has scored 1 try all year, Shillo the Pillow...the name sums up his season so far & Yow Yeh has played a few good games of late and been solid but still a very bizarre selection.

Uate > Morris
Gordon > Yow Yeh
Snowden > Shillington

Go the Kiwi's! I hope they make a mockery of the Australian's, Sheens should feel ashamed of himself!
Good post and agreed.

I disagree with everyone questinoing Yow Yeh. I've been tracking this guy for the last few years and I've always admired this guys athleticism. He has nice footwork and is a big hitter in defence. He's been one of my favourite non-knights players for the past few seasons now. The guy has very good stepping!

No questioning his ability, I like him too.

But what it is blatantly obvious Uate is every bit the better!

Yeah i think his spot in the team is justified, he's been very exciting to watch this year. Morris on the other hand, should've been far below Uate for the other winger position. Even Gordon, Ferguson & Hayne have been better than Morris so far.

Uate is a more damaging runner with some good penetration, Yow Yeh has some skill and is a sure as shizzle defender. Uate probably is a tiny bit better...but Hodges and Yow Yeh are one of the best combos in the comp at the moment, and I'd imagine they have some understanding of each toher

Worst australian team in a while.

Uate > Yow Yew

Gasnier and Cooper > Hodges and Inglis

Cronk shouldnt have been scrapped as HB for thurston when he is palying real well.

Snowden and Tolman > Shillington and c'ceva

Idris and Creagh

Team based on bias over form

Yeah it does seem the massive QLD influence is a bit bigger than it should be. Alot of NSW players that have been really good so far could've been picked over the QLD guys fairly. And Meninga accuses us of a conspiracy.

Uate dominates all of 2010 and misses out on a Test jersey. Not quite the same as last year, but still killing it in metres gained, tackle busts and linebreaks and misses out again

Before 2011 Yow Yeh wasn't even mentioned in Rep teams. He starts off 2011 with 7 good games (hardly game changing) and gets a Test jersey.

How is that fair?

You would think Uate getting winger of the year, there would be some bias........ Nope. Deserved that wing spot, and got it plucked out of his hands.

Looking at the 19-man Kiwis squad i reckon it'll be something like this:

1. Hohaia
2. Duffie/Beale
3. Mannering
4. Kenny-Dowall
5. Nightingale
6. Marshall (c)
7. Foran
8. Rapira
9. Luke
10. Moimoi
11. Blair
12. Brown
13. Smith

14. Fien
15. McKendry/Matulino
16. Eastwood
17. Harrison

So crap Taia got injured, he would've made the squad easy.

Yow Yeh was selected as 18th man for Qld for one of the SoO games last year, so that's not a valid argument.

Ben Creagh, he is ok I guess but I dont rate him this highly though.

A few are obviously there as incumbents/reputation.

Idris is still a bad reader of defence out wide, He has to be there as a backrower BUT theres easily a dozen other players who should be there before he was even thought of !!

I have no dramas on the Yow Yeh selection, he deserves it.

I like this team except I'd swap Marshall and Foran around.

Living in Qld, I get to see a lot of Broncos games on TV and Yow Yeh has been great this year. Definitely deserves the spot ahead of Uate who hasn't found his 2010 form yet this year. I would've gone with Houston ahead of Creagh in the second row, though.

Houston is good, but not australian material yet IMO.
bird, heighington > houston and creigh

David Shillington has been ruled out of the Test Match due to injury. Kade Snowden named as replacement.

You're finding flaws in places there aren't really. Hodges has been going nuts, always has been one of the best centers in terms of offence. Inglis goes through on reputation, and seeing how he plays well when he has to and the talent he has, there's a reason why he has such a good reputation. Maybe Gaz has been in better form than Inglis, but you're not losing anything either way. Matt Cooper no longer plays rep football anyway.

As I said before, Uate has been pretty good but Yow Yeh hasn't been slouching either. He's always showed talent and now he's being recognized for it. If anythign Uate should be ahead of Morris, but the Anzac test has always showed loyalty due to its early placement in the season.

Thurston has also been playing really well. Thurston is the more damaging halfback, with game changing ability. Cronk is talented, but he doesn't come up with the miracle play Thurston does. He'll have his day (unless Mullen goes mental and takes the Kangaroos jersey). JT is also the incumbent and Cronk isn't really snubbed, he's on the bench.

Yeah Shillo shouldn't have been there, but Petero is a leader and an incumbent. He does the same thing every game, stumbles forward through the line and that's what you want from your prop. Someone who'll knock over meters time after time, 80min in. So you do have a point about Shillo.

Also Creagh while in good form, he tries the miracle ball too much in rep footy. He's okay as a selection seeing as he has a few rep games under his belt, but Idris is also a wonder. Don't know why he was chosen over others.

David Shillington has been ruled out of the Test Match due to injury. Kade Snowden named as replacement.

Kind of justice eh? Won't help the Raiders cause though.

Kade was very unlucky to miss out so think this is justice. He's been almost the best prop this year so far just about. Deserves the jersey.

Numbers don't stack up for Knights winger's snubbing

http://www.theherald.com.au/news/lo...-up-for-knights-wingers-snubbing/2150511.aspx

Yow Yeh vs Uate
Age: 21 vs 23
NRL Debut: 2009 vs 2008
NRL Games: 41 vs 53
NRL Tries: 22 vs 37
Strike Rate: 53.6 vs 69.8
2010 Tries: 8 vs 21
--------2011 Stats------------
Games: 8 vs 8
Tries: 5 vs 5
Linebreaks: 4 vs 6
Runs: 89 vs 120
Metres: 797 vs 1058
Avg Metres: 99.6 vs 132.2
Tackle Breaks: 18 vs 44
Missed Tackles: 8 vs 10
Errors: 8 vs 1

The Newcastle Herald's reasons why Uate should've been picked over Yow Yeh. Hard to argue with it, Uate's stats mostly dominate Yow Yeh. I guess he's just unlucky.
