2008 preview dvd from telegraph

Hebby

Front Rower
there was a 2 part telegraph dvd with larie daley and mathew johns. they were umming up the teams chances and reasons why they were going to position the way they will and they were very unsure of newcastle.

They also had a "computer" that stastically predicted positions of the teams and they were as followed.
1.Storm
2 .Eels
3. Sea Eagles
4. Cowboys
6. Roosters
7. Rabbitohs
8. Raiders
9. Bulldogs
10.Sharks
11.Broncos
12.Titans
13.Dragons
14.Tigers
15.Knights
16.Panthers

Thought it was interesting

The fact that we are put at 15th and Raiders at 8th makes this completely unreliable. Enough said.

Yea I got both of them, Laurie had a few shockers in both of them, saying we were wooden spooners last year.

Yeah that is fairly bad aye... I dont know why everyone's writing the titans and us off, we both have sides that could easily penetrate the top four.

If anyones interested in it, I can try ripping it.

First ill have to convert it since its an .vob file, then cut it so it only shows the knights bit. I'll see how it goes.

Raiders have a good awesome sqaud. I wont rule out a top8, again like last year. But def. we should be alittle higher up.

What stats did they use anyway?

Ah crap, I just realised I can't rip it because the file size that the Knights bit is in is about 1gb, and I haven't got that amount of space on my hardrive to hold it. Buuuuut.. If I did it on the laptop it might work out. But then I need to find a video converter for mac. Gah. :(

They could've done it in one DVD...and put proper menus on them. Plus never trust a computer to come up with a predicted ladder finish - they don't take stuff like injuries, suspensions, form of other teams, weather, etc... into account. Saturday's was all about who's coming and going, and Sunday's was about the predicted lineups and ladder finishes for 2008. Pretty poor effort Rupe and....whoever owns Channel 9 now! :P

I ripped both programs to my hard drive though, and will soon convert them to iPod format.

I agree Dan, computers don't have a thing called common sense, they also don't take into consideration home ground advantage and things like teams having players out due to rep commitments etc.

Not just computers, Predictions is general are pretty pointless. I never bother to take any predictions into account.

I don't predict on who will win a competition, etc., at the start of it. Ever. ;)

I don't bother with others predictions, I form my own well educated opinions on each team.

Well I predicted Melbourne to win at the start of last year, but that was a bit of a no-brainer haha.

I think the whole idea of the dvds werent to predict finishes for the year but more of a see how your team looks at the moment and seeing other peoples opinion on them. the ladder positions are pointless, i have never seen a correct prediction ever but it is interesting how others view the knights. And to be brutally honest from an outsiders perspective it would be pretty hard to put the knights higher than 15, mainly because it is so much of an unknown.

After the form of 06, everyone was predicting that!

But just one hick up in the final series could have turned all that around.

Anyways. Storm for the Premiership again....anyone?
