NRL Round 7 - Roosters Vs Knights - 2:00pm Sunday, 19th April - Allianz Stadium

Really, really excited to see Sharpe operating with a bit more time and space now that he's gotten a lot of reps with the defence up in his face. Even with the dodgy knee I think he'll kill it.

Sandon and Brown in the halves should help a lot with our fluency in the attacking zones and end of set options. Both should be able to play with freedom if they see something they like without worrying about being caught in possession on 5th tackle.

It's been quite an effort to score as many points as we have with the players we've been missing, we've relied on a fair bit of ad lib and individual brilliance. Now it's time to hopefully see some slicker structure to go with it.

I’m oddly happy with that squad. Happy for acant and hope he has strong few weeks of footy backing up Lucas.
Hunt at centre works, he defended strongly there last year before squad lost there marbles.

Certainly going to be interesting the affect Brown has on the squad in both attack and defence. I’ll keep my hopes low.

However I’m happy to see Hola, Francis, McCarthy and Hopwood in reserves. They’ve all earnt it.

Left side is a worry with Marzhew, Hunt and Cant think I would prefer a bigger, stronger body like ESL or Manuleleua.
Rest looks fine, nice to see Sharpe at f/b.

It’s the right decision to put Sharpe at the back. This team didn’t surprise me as I think it the strongest combination with availability. Yes left edge is a concern and will be tested.

McCarthy, unlucky to miss out as I think he is a decent defender and that’s the position he plays in cup. But he doesn’t have the attacking upside Hunt has. And Hollbrook leans into attack more.

I can’t remember how Hunt played at centre last year. I remember he played wing. Either way he’s a much improved player to last year.

Young forwards coming in Cant, Hopwood, Fransis a lot of pressure. I hope they at least can hold their own.

Will Brown play on the left with Sandon on the right? Would help shore up the left side defence and feels like the more natural side for him to attack down.
When Brown was playing it’s been mainly on the right. I think better for kicking. But he was floating both sides in attack. Agree it would be better if he can defend on the left to help that side.

Still don't understand why ESL isn't getting a run?

Very strange considering how pathetic and insufficient our bench looks. Manuleleua can't make more than 3 tackles and Hopwood is a teenager who has zero penetration.

We will get absolutely murdered on Sunday

How are we to develop teenagers....ah phrasing...if we don't give them time in FG when a) they've been playing well in cup and b) we're in the midst of an injury crisis.

I think it's refreshing after the bad old days of AOB literally playing injured players rather than giving a youngster a run. We could have had Sisagi in the centres rn if he'd been better managed.

And we responded after the Wahs loss and won I don't see that we get murdered if there's a similar reponse this week.

McCarthy is tied 2nd with 5 try assists in cup and tied 2nd with 6 line break assists.
James Schiller is top of the league for tries scored, playing next to McCarthy. I don't know how much more attack he would need.

I would have thought he would slot straight in to left centre as he is a left centre.

The club really wants Hunt to succeed in first grade, I'm here for it. Good to see him on the reserves though.

Keen to see alot of the young blokes get a crack this weekend. I have no worries with out attack. I am worried about how they will keep up with the pace and fatigue of the NRL though. Defence could be an issue.
