2026 team as it stands

I think above all else, if Sharpe isn’t starting here then there will be plenty of interest from other clubs, and he may not stick around too long.
Yep Sharp will start on the wing . Don't think Holbrooks memory of Marz at the Titans will be that fond . Has had some great moments here but generally issues are the same . Can't catch , defend or jump . Will be targeted by other teams now.

New profiles have been added.
No Saulo for some reason, but the other new signings are up.
I think De Courcey had a profile with a photo, but that is now gone and he has a new one without a photo.
They have Brown, Sharpe, Smith and Gamble all listed as 5/8s and still no one listed at halfback.

Typical sh#$y Knights cant even get photos of their top 30 players for their website. Our PR team are so bad. Imagine a world where you make the players known to the fan base wouldnt that be amazing!

Beats you can put the knives away on this one mate… look at any other club’s Teams page and you’ll note that they also don’t have photos of their new signings up yet. The reason is that team photos/media day hasn’t happened yet.

If it was a new to the club player i could somewhat understand, but DeCourceys been with us for a fair while now. But its also not hard to snap a photo of any description on the phone and put up.

Team needs a good pre season, injury free, leading into round 1, team I like for that game is:-
1 Ponga, 2 Young, 3 Gagai, 4 Best, 5 Sharpe, 6 Brown, 7 Smith, 8 JSaf, 9 Crossland, 10 Mooney,
11 Lucas, 12 Jones, 13 Croker. Bench 14 Gamble, 15 Saulo, 16 Frizell, 17 McEwen,
This would be our most experienced side to hopefully set a standard for the season.
Our younger fwds should be introduced if form permits and injuries happen but performance in Cup is essential, am sure that the likes of ESL, Manuleleua, Hopwood will keep pressure on the likes of Jones And Croker.
Would have Friz taking over from JSaf and Saulo from Mooney with McEwen used where required and Gamble at 9 for short stint either side of half. All this depending on injuries with Sharpe, Lucas and Gamble being able to cover.

Croker and Jones just aren't good first graders sorry. I'd hope the young brigade could rotate throughout the year.

Fully agree on Jones, if we are serious about trying to make finals next year he can’t be in the team unless lots of injuries
I can live with Croker playing 30 mins off the bench but definitely not starting

Those two have made improvements but not what we would all like. Wipe them off at the end of the year if you must, but let's see what a new coach and training regime brings.

Yeah, they could even me the yard stick the young fellas have to overcome.

Could see Jones killing in the superleague and having a good career there.

Both are great fellas, just missing that extra few percent.

They are also missing that extra few percent cap wise. They aren't bad squad guys to have around. Wouldn't mind seeing a couple of guys go past them next season either.

Honestly I can't take much more of seeing the pair of them run out for us ...

Nice, hardworking guys, but I don't know that they'd be playing as much first grade as they get here anywhere else.
I think it really depends on what you’re asking these guys to do. Both are fine at doing 30 minutes off the bench either side of half time and can actually have some pretty good impact in this role. Last year through injury they were both starting and that is where they’re just not up to first grade. We saw far too much of it but not really through anyone’s fault.

Obviously Jones isnt a starting middle, but his form the last couple seasons, particularly last season, as a middle forward have been well and truly FG standard imo.

Do we think Croker is the preferred middle between the two? I reckon Jones is the better player. Perhaps doesn't have as much footy in him as Crokes, but Jones has a fast PTB, he's fast and chews off his 6-7m prior to contact faster than Croker, he has more penetration post contact and he is a better support player. Not much between them defensively

Jones played a fair chunk of last season injured.
I hope we now have the depth to let him take time out if he needs it this year.
I think he's one who will enjoy doing more footy drills in training this year. He's always looked happiest when just playing footy.

On low money and year to year contracts I don't mind. They're both approaching 100 games, they are capable of filling in on a week to week basis when needed. Like it's usually the case you have a young guy that's not ready yet for week to week, or you have to sign one of those Jones/Croker players from somewhere else for more money than they should be on. Once the young guys are ready they will take over, otherwise the Bears and PNG will happily snap up all our cost effective yet experienced guys.
