Recruitment And Retention Discussion

I don't think I hate a player more in the NRL than Latrell Mitchell, maybe Sam Walker but different reasons.

I don't know how I'd feel with Latrell in the red & blue but I guess I'd have to learn how to love him..

1. Kalyn Ponga
2. Dominic Young
3. Latrell Mitchell
4. Toby Winter
5. Jack Bostock
6. Fletcher Sharpe
7. Dylan Brown
8. Jacob Saifiti
9. Harry Grant
10. Trey Mooney
11. Jermaine McEwen
12. Dylan Lucas
13. Francis Manuleleua

14. Phoenix Crossland
15. Cody Hopwood
16. Mat Croker
17. Lachlan Crouch
18. Sandon Smith
19. Greg Marzhew

Well then…

Best is easily top 5 centres in the game. He’s the best centre defensively and is as dangerous in attack as nearly all the other centres. To suggest Lucas or Manu can change positions and be as effective as Best is absurd.

Herbie Farnworth, Stephen Crichton, Lateral Mitchell, Kotoni Staggs, Casey McLean, Robert Toia, Izack Tago, Jack Howarth
Are all better centres than Best in defence.
Best would be in top six in attack.
I know some people are a bit touchy about someone criticising Best. All I am trying to point out is, he will not be a big loss to the Knights if he moves on.
We have players that can take his place.

The Knights could field this side and there’d still be some people in the Sydney media who would say, yeah I still think they could miss the 8

Bruh, I'm not buying this. You've been very normal for ages and the last 24 hours you've started trolling like crazy 😅

The Staggs, Howarth and Tago part got me a beauty

Literally none of those players are better defenders than Best.

Howarth and Tago are barely First Graders.

Herbie is the only one of them I’d say is definitively a better attacking player.

Penrith preferred Alamoti to Tago for large parts of the season, so well off the mark there.

To be fair, Latrell's cousin Lateral does move side-to-side better in defence

Word is the fenech's are putting pressure on Best to move to Sydney. Also mumblings on some succession talks around management of some of his business happening. I'd say he is much closer to gone than staying at this stage.

Also regarding some posts above, its a club forum but let's not be overly biased. Crichton has been elite defensively for 7 years and is a better defensive centre than Best though that gap has closed sharply this year. Herbie and Latrell are both better attacking centres than Best who can do more than Best with no space or overlap. Best is more reliant on good early ball or Ponga successfully commiting the D and C defender, which to Best's credit he is excellent at taking advantage off as seen by his TA's.

Best is still a top 3 centre overall though because he's 2nd or at worst 3rd best in both categories. It will be a big blow to lose him but Latrell is no mug to slot in as a strike weapon to nail a premiership. I'd trust Holbrook to get him fit and firing for a premiership tilt. Our club is more likely to have him feeding on underdog vibes and controlled aggression vs souths
Walker led grubery.
