2026 Australia Vs Bangladesh Test Cricket Series

Marnus keeps failing left right and centre. I’d be seriously considering Oliver Peake at some point. The kid is a freak.

If they want to reward shield form then Pete Handscombe has earned it. Bancroft as well although I think he’s been blacklisted.McSweeney has been going alright too but none of them are openers.

Renshaw is probably the only one to earn a spot as an opener. Shield cricket is letting us down at the moment.

Gone are the days where you had a players like Hodge, Hussey and Love averaging well over 50 every season and unable to get a look in because of the talent that was already in the Aussie side

I’d ship in Kellaway to open and Renshaw at 3 for this next test. I think marnus is a good enough player that he’ll work his way back into the side at some point but it is well past due that we need to give someone else a crack at the top of the order. I also am not sure Lyon will be good to go for the next 12 months and would rip the chord now, but I doubt the selectors will be that brave.

I would be happy to see Kellaway and Renshaw play on Saturday.

Ed Cowan believes Lyon has lost the ability to take wickets or to contain batsmen.

Excellent news, as @Seano said, Weatherald should never have been selected to play for Australia, he was not a test quality opening batsman.

The match may be Marnus’ last test, he will need a big score to be selected in the South African series.

Renshaw had so much promise as a young cricketer. He fluffed his early opportunities and he has had to score a lot of runs to get another shot. To keep making a living he developed a swashbuckling side to his game so he could be employable by T20 franchises. I really hope he has some luck and forges a late blossoming Test career.

That used to be the norm of Australian cricket forge a massive state career before getting a chance. Wouldnt it be nice to be back in those days. Glory days!

Disagree on weatherald and never being picked. Everyone wants players picked on form and he was the best regular shield batsman for 2 seasons prior to his debut.
just further highlights the massive gap between first class and test cricket.
Moving forward they need any debut batsman to come in at number 6 imo with carey going back to 7, even if your a natural opener this is the easiest way to transition to test cricket.
I cant see marnus not going to South Africa either, the quality underneath this test side just isnt there. Pushing Marnus down to 6 for that tour may be an option though.
