NRL Round 23 - Knights Vs Raiders - 2:00pm Sunday, 9th of August - GIO Stadium

We got them in (one of our only comfortable wins that year) at home but it is a joke how often we have to play them away. There must be a reason for it but given that it is relatively hard to travel there would be nice to spread that out with them.
Pretty sure teams nominate which other clubs they’d prefer to play at home in the name of maximising attendance.

North Queensland would probably be the last team the Cowboys would want to play as they wouldn’t bring in any fans here.

There not a team we generally play twice, so the Knights must the happy to give up a home match to them instead

Good on them for rewarding Hagan, obviously he will drop off the extended but it’s a nice little pat on the back since he has been so good and his rise has been extremely rapid, probably the best hooker from our system since Starling in my opinion, can’t make the same mistake, especially since I think his potential is 5 times that of what Starlings was

1. Kalyn Ponga (C)
2. Dominic Young
3. Dane Gagai
4. Bradman Best
5. Greg Marzhew
6. Fletcher Sharpe
7. Sandon Smith
8. Tyson Frizell
9. Phoenix Crossland
10. Trey Mooney
11. Jermaine McEwen
12. Francis Manuleleua
13. Mat Croker

14. Harrison Graham
15. Cody Hopwood
16. Lachlan Crouch
17. Tom Cant
18. Fletcher Hunt
19. Brodie Jones

20. Toby Winter
21. Kyle McCarthy
22. Diesel Hagan

Would assume Hagan is named incase Graham is a late scratching again as need that second hooker since Cant Can’t be a hooker

I actually like Friz starting this week against the massive raiders forward pack, then when Tapine comes off Hopwood goes on

Assume all fit and well, if Can’t needed to cover Hooker due to doubts on Graham then Jones likely back in.
Big game 300 for Frizell, hope he gets to start, I’m sure Hopwood will understand

I live in Canberra and it sure is. The weather this time of year is awful and Canberra stadium is the worst stadium in the country that I have been to.
Its horrible! I hate going there, it has terrible facilities, terrible seating and terrible parking (I just park along the highway and walk over)
But if they did make changes there where would they play?? At the Brumbies oval in Erindale? Not enough seats.
Big changes need to happen to that stadium, it would be nice to host other events there..

I've never been so cold in my life as when watching games in Canberra.
If it says 9 - it's cold enough to get frostbite, even if you wear every jumper you own.

Canberra go so well at this time of year in Canberra because other sides are in shock for the first 20 minutes.

You can never get used to it and the wind just goes through you, its a different kind of cold here..

I always love stories of how they would turn the heaters on high in the away teams locker room so it was even colder for them when they run out 🤣

This has me more confident for the game this weekend, from the Raiders forum, their poll on the game.

We've had rain, hail and snow in Wellington NZ today, so a bit of wind is sounding ok right now!

But I must have been so lucky the time I went to Canberra for a game, it was beautiful sunny weather.

When I was a young 8/9 yr old living in Cooma I used to DREAM of Canberra building a second stadium in Cooma so I could go to every game.

I could think of nothing worse now especially after living in Queensland for almost a decade. 🤣

Depends what part of QLD I guess. I’ve never been to Canberra to be honest, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more to my liking than the south east corner here. I hate visiting there, no way I could face it every day.
