NRL Round 7 - Roosters Vs Knights - 2:00pm Sunday, 19th April - Allianz Stadium

So what happened? That's what happens when you do ball work all preseason and put the conditioning on hold. We may come good throughout the year but wins early are even more important. Injuries have cruelled us in fact they are all key players. We need all on deck to be pushing for anything, let alone a premiership. Footy gods need to be nice to Newcastle for the next 5 years. I'm over every bloody year we get jammed.

Doing the ball work has fixed our biggest issue so not complaining. Fix the biggest problems first.

We beat ourselves in that one, that’s the bit that disappoints me most. If there was a half chance at shooting ourselves in the foot, we’d blow it clean off.
And once again, the short dropouts were costly today, when will they learn that they are no good at them?

Anyway, a positive to finish, how good we some of the kids today? That was the first time I’ve seen FML in action and it had me getting around like a half open pocket knife!

I feel like rugby league is the only sport where people are like “that’s no excuse!” when you play worse because your best players are missing.

No one is ever like “this other quarterback should simply play as well as Patrick Mahomes” or “why doesn’t this other big European guy simply do what Nikola Jokic can do?”

Hunt looked good in the centers today, its crazy to think how good he could be. He is still new and has much to learn but looks good.
Marzhew has to be one of the worst defenders in the history of the game right?
I love watching the guy with ball in hand and love having him in Newcastle but he is a serious problem for us and it shouldn't just be on the guys on his inside to save his hide every single time.

Can’t really blame that on having players out when we had a 12 point advantage after the first 40. Just gave them easy possession and didnt work on anything that was going wrong for us in the first half such as line speed and the work from our markers. Really disappointing after how well we defended at the end of the first. Kick offs were poor as well, cant let an already strong forward pack catch the ball on their 20 and start their set on their 30 it leads to an attacking kick almost every time.

Well thats just not true, inexperienced players are going to get caught out and the Roosters targeted a side where almost the entire side have never played together let a lone defended together.
I agree that the players took the foot off the gas and were unable go wrestle the game back but missing players in positions can definitely cause problems.
