Wasn’t Frizell 29 and an incumbent NSW player when we signed him? He’d want to not be on a “retirement contract” wouldn’t he? That’s like saying the Wahs signed James Fisher-Harris on a pension deal.
 
I'm hardly buying the whole retirement home argument. Guerra was tremendous for us especially as a standard setter and signed on when things were bleak. That helped us sign another couple of players. Heighington and Lillyman were both well past their used by dates for sure but signed on for tough years when we were at our lowest. Chris in particular busted his guts for us. Tim Glasby was providing for us exactly what we bought him up from Melbourne to do and unfortunately got injured.

Marata is surplus to requirements in a warriors pack that still features plenty of experience and some wildly exciting youngsters coming through. No shame in that. The guy is as hard as granite. I believe POS knows what he is doing here.
 
As long as the terms aren’t ridiculous I have no issue with it, particularly if we’re getting him this year. Those mid-season transfers are a great way to balance the cap, he’s already been paid half his wage this season.

The dude is a good player who can wear a lot of caps & yeah should add starch to our defence, he’s one of those guys where you can hear his contact a long way up in the stands. That’s why he got all that money in spite of what is a pretty modest statistical profile. That and the versatility. He’d be handy starting at prop or lock right now. He’d be handy off the bench. He’d be handy shielding McEwen from the first 20 mins of games. He’d be handy if god forbid Lucas gets injured. Etc.

Will just take people’s word for it on the off field/leadership stuff. I wouldn’t know either way.

Says he mostly played Union but followed his brother at Souths and decided to give League a go.
Says he started at Penrith, but signed with Knights after they made him an offer after he scored a good try against them in Flegg.
Says he has a lot to learn still and the pace of firstgrade is something he'll have to get used to.

Apparently he was a gun number 10 in NZ growing up
 
It's an interesting one. O'Sullivan is clearly a big fan/believer but he said last year he thinks a squad only needs 2 hookers in the top 30. At full health we figure to have Crossland and Smith sharing the role, Arthur behind them and then Hagan in the development squad (where Graham is this year). All of a sudden it's a pretty full house. Reckon if Graham is re-signed it'll be at the expense of Arthur being moved on.

I’m ok with that from what I’ve seen of both.
 
Yeah it’s a tough one. I think Arthur is a better prospect but stylistically he may be more the kind of 9 who’s a bit of a lead playmaker. Wonderful in theory, but there’s only one ball, and sometimes the 9 who’s stealing 20 metres a bunch with clever play around the markers is also causing you to miss opportunities to put your winger & centre away for 50 metres.

Graham is reminding me a bit of Tom Starling, there’s craft around the ruck and he’s very nippy, but he doesn’t overplay his hand. When Starling busts through the middle it seems like an opportunistic sucker punch rather than something he spends the whole game hunting for. That may be better for the balance of the team we have.

I think he’ll fetch a fair price & paying up for an outside back shouldn’t be the approach for us. I think we need to develop them. Timoko is a big talent but I don’t think he fills a need for us.

Gut says they will prob look to promote from within. Think Gags is definitely showing age is catching up with him
 
We have a lot of potential outside backs we can promote next year, we definitely don't need to recruit another, unless the price is an absolute steal.
 
I’d hope they’re looking to promote a junior. We already have Best on a lot of money, need to save money on the other Centre. Don’t think we should be recruiting outside backs at all if we can avoid it.
 
It’s going to be a real balancing act with Ponga, Lucas and Best all able to negotiate with rival clubs at the end of the year. There’s some big decisions looming. Lucas is an interesting one. If we’re paying Niukore (edge/middle) good coin, Lucas’s manager (Moses) will be pushing for similar if not more. Ideally to build a premiership squad, you need guys like Lucas and Best our local juniors to take slightly less.
