Players are taken off the list as they are re-signed. If you notice a Player on this list has re-signed, mention it in this Thread.

Matt Henjak > Raiders (2009)

Looks like he will definately switch codes... or he would have to wait till 2009 for the ARU to reassess him.

I don't see Carney leaving the Raiders, or vice versa. Especially since Penrith seem keen to go with Williams and Sammut.

Carl Webb being targeted by the Bulldogs, source = Ch 9 news (danny weidler of all people lol)

They could definately use the firepower up front, and need to get some mongrel back. apparently their offering in the vicinity of $500,000 a season.

Willie Tonga is linked with a move to the Cowboys, nothing confirmed yet though.

Tonga joins the Cowboys (Confirmed)

FORMER Australia centre Willie Tonga has confirmed he had signed a four year contract to join North Queensland.

On the same day as the Cowboys snared coach Neil Henry, Tonga told the Daily Telegraph he was looking forward to linking up with Matt Bowen and Johnathan Thurston in Townsville.

"I'm looking at making an announcement tomorrow," the 24-year-old Bulldogs star said last night.

"I went up there a couple of weeks ago and I was very impressed with their setup. I look at Johnathan Thurston and Matt Bowen and I can really see myself in that backline.

"It's tough to make this sort of decision but I just wanted to get it out of the way and concentrate on my football."

The Dogs' loss came on the same day that new chief executive Todd Greenberg asked errant back-rower Reni Maitua about rumours he wanted to quit at the end for the season. Maitua assured Greenberg he would serve out his contract.

He is due to meet Maitua's manager, Gavin Orr, at 10am today.

Tonga said he did not join NQ in the understanding Henry would be coach.

"I've only just learnt about that - I thought it would be him or (Ian) Millward," said Tonga.

"Neil is obviously a very good coach. He's done some great things at Canberra and all the boys have been very impressed with him in the Queensland side."

Tonga joins the Cowboys

Guess you could say Maitua could be leaving the Dogs aswell.

Eh, haven't really seen much in Tonga in the past few years. The year they won the comp he was one of the best in the game, but now his nothing more than average.

Yea last year and such he was pretty crapola, but now he is starting to hit some form again, I think he will benefit from playing with a half-back like Thurston rather then the Bulldogs halves.

Rumours:

Luke Lewis > South Sydney
Luke Rooney > St George
Tony Puletua > Bulldogs/Sharks
Neville Costigan > Gold Coast Titans
Frank Pritchard > Bulldogs

Confirmed:

Craig Trindall > Bulldogs

Confirmed:
Luke Lewis > South Sydney 4 year deal worth $1.4mill

And also Penrith have told Pritchard he is staying put.

Barrett's NRL Return?
Trent Barrett has been linked to a return to St George Illawarra next year as his former teammate Craig Fitzgibbon prepares to announce he will retire at the end of this season - a move unlikely to prevent the Roosters losing Anthony Tupou to Manly.

Barrett, who has starred with Wigan in the English Super League since leaving the Dragons at the end of 2006, is believed to be keen to finish his career at the club where he played 154 first-grade matches after debuting in 1996 for Illawarra (46).

It is understood the 30-year-old former Test five-eighth had expressed interest in returning if Ian Millward had been appointed as Nathan Brown's replacement after initially signing with Wigan when the Cowboys assistant coach was in charge of the former English glamour club.

But Barrett also has a good relationship with incoming Dragons coach Wayne Bennett, who was impressed by his skills and ability during the 2005 Tri Nations campaign in which he played a variety of positions for Australia, including hooker.

Barrett's manager, Wayne Beavis, said the pivot was still under contract to Wigan for another season and doubted any NRL club could match the money he was earning in England.

However, the Dragons are believed to be topping up the payments by Wigan to Barrett, and sources in England have told the Herald he feels he has unfinished business in the NRL.

Barrett, who won the 2000 Dally M medal, was voted the 2007 Super League players' player of the year and has been in impressive form again this season for Wigan.

Meanwhile, Fitzgibbon - who played alongside Barrett in the 1999 grand final loss to Melbourne - has discussed with his Roosters teammates the possibility of hanging up his boots at the end of the season.

"It's a certainty," a highly placed Roosters source said last night.

But the retirement of the former Test and NSW back-rower, who turns 31 in June and is off contract at the end of the season, and the likely decision not to re-sign prop David Shillington, is unlikely to be enough to stop Tupou accepting an astronomical deal to join Manly.

It is understood that Tupou, who has been in sparkling form so far this season, has been offered a $1.6 million deal over four years - the same amount offered to Canberra halfback Todd Carney.

While Sea Eagles officials yesterday believed Tupou was certain to tell them he was staying at Bondi Junction, their Roosters counterparts were preparing for the news he was headed to the northern peninsula.

It is believed Tupou's decision will come down to a meeting with Roosters chairman Nick Politis, who returned this week from overseas and is yet to speak to the 25-year-old.

The Roosters have a juggling act on their hands next season, with several players expecting upgrades to their contracts. They will consider moving Setaimata Sa and Iosia Soliola from the centres into the forward pack so they can concentrate on signing a crack centre three-quarter.

Elsewhere, Penrith was forced to fend off rumours that disgruntled second-rower Frank Pritchard had walked out on the club and had played his last match for the Panthers.

"I trained this morning, I'm not going anywhere," Pritchard said.

"I am contracted and I am not going anywhere."

Panthers general manager Mick Leary said Pritchard's management had asked on Monday for a release from the final two years of his contract.

"But we told them in [no] uncertain terms this was not possible," Leary said.

"The last time I saw him, he was down in the gym."

Fellow Kiwis Test forward Tony Puletua is expected to seek a release to play out his career in England with either St Helens or Bradford.

Former Kangaroos winger Luke Rooney is another player strongly linked to a move. Rooney is said to be keen to join Bennett at the Dragons next season.

If Barret returns to the Dragons, and the Dragons can manage to retain their young players, it'd be all positive for the Dragons. Soward and Barret could be a good combination.
