Ex-Knights Watch

Leigh v Warrington on TV now. Hodgson v Fitzgibbon.

If anyone can find highlights this game later, check out the try Thewlis the Warrington winger has just set up. Ran 80 yards, beating about 10 defenders in the act before a neat pass to allow the support player to run over uncontested.

Watching tex hoy this morning I’m glad we deported him. He isn’t even super league standard.

Lachlan Miller had a shocker as well. Dropped a bomb that led directly to a try then he missed a conversion from in front which would’ve put Leeds within 6 points. Brad Arthur wasn’t very happy.

Have to feel for Jenkins getting dropped. He deserved to keep his spot but Alamoti was one of Panthers best in last year’s gf.

yeah was just about to say, i live in leeds and miller has been one of our best, probably second best to jake connor our halfback… even miller having them few errors against catalan he was still nearly our best on ground in a very poor performance from the team

Pezet was rejected by the Rabbitohs, Wayne has no interest in bringing him in. Offer from Anasta was a loan or long term deal. 5

His list of options grows thin.

It wouldn't have helped that Braith has been bagging the Bunnies all year for sacking Illias and signing Dodd.

Ben Talty earns a two-year extension at the Broncos - extremely deserving and a great story of perseverance.

I don't often always buy into the "another one who slipped through our fingers" rhetoric but Talty is 100% deserving of that tag, alongside Zac Hosking. He performed to a high level in our Cup side for years and never got the chance to debut, no guarantee that he would've made the impact he has now at the Broncos but deserved an opportunity.

Would land a spot in our top 17 next year if he was here.

Well said Mullo. Those two didn’t slip through our fingers, they just weren't rated. Both consistently amongst our best players in reggies but never got a look in.

Ultimately we’ve had a bit of a “studs and scrubs” roster construction for years, but have had two issues: A lot of the highly paid studs are actually mid, and a bad track record for identifying and keeping the right “value” signings - the scrubs. And it’s particularly gutting when the guys we see thriving elsewhere are locals who we know wanted to play for us.

I think POS’s signings eg Crouch, Saulo, locking down Hopwood/McEwen before they’re expensive, etc, at the very least point to him agreeing that this is the issue we’ve had.

I still find it amusing that Talty and Hosking played side by side for years - Hosking as a prop and Talty as a second row - then they both found out that Hosking was athletic enough to be an outstanding second row, and Talty had the giant motor to play big minutes at prop.

technically ex players now, don’t have new clubs confirmed yet. But will be interesting to see where some of our leaving players go, a few guesses:
Annan - Union
Hastings - SL
Hetherington - SL? he’d kill it over here in the uk
Elliott - Rabbits? or has that deal died
Teague - ??
Bryan - Manly
Jones - Sharks
Cogger - Panthers (good guess this one 😉)
just to name a few

plus our confirmed:
kpp - tigers
brailey - the milk
leo - dogs
greacon - SL
arthur - SL
